I knew this was a short story and would never be as good as any of her others, which I think all deserve to be made into films. And while I happen to really like that smell, I'm sad I didn't get any of the strawberry notes I was anticipating. Firstly, this ballistic is one of the strongest scented ones I have come across in a while (aside Tennis Ball) and when left its aroma will dominate any room within a matter of hours. However, through all this she finally decides enough is enough and starts doing things to try and changer her situations all the way around.

Her husband Charlie Holt (Mr Whippy) has left her for a younger woman (a 23-year-old dancer) and she is struggling to bring up her children.

I also liked how not EVERYTHING went perfectly like her losing her best friend and not getting her back , because it made the book feel less fiction-y. Her memories are tied to food, all in some way connected to ice cream, and it fits cleanly into the narrative. I love small books, so when I saw this on the shelve at the library I knew I had to grab and read it. They don't leave visible bruises or marks as a stereotypical abuser would, but cause damage which is hidden and often not found out about until it is too late.

This overpowering scent reminds me a little of the woody note that you find in both Lush's Breath of God and The Voice Of Reason perfumes.
