Description
I probably shouldn't have laughed when Mog tumbled down the chimney and one of the aunts exclaimed that it must be Father Christmas. She is also the author and illustrator of numerous picture books, including The Tiger Who Came to Tea, which was first published in 1968 and has since sold more than one million copies worldwide. I also think it’s crucial to start these conversations and introduce these concepts while children’s brains are still young and malleable. The house is full of strangers, everything is noisy – and when she sees a spiky tree walking around and talking, it’s the last straw!
I'm a huge fan of television so I really have found the perfect job, as I've been writing about TV shows, films and interviewing major television, film and sports stars for over 25 years. if you have ever seen the Sainsbury's ads for Christmas, you probably have seen the film version of this book. The illustrated children’s picture book adventure of the nation’s favourite cat, from the author of The Tiger Who Came To Tea – as seen on TV in the Christmas animation! Rambert’s hit stage show Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby was captured for TV by North South Productions and will air on BBC4 on New Year’s Day.I haven’t read it, but maybe the calamity was that the Thomases only just realised Mog had been dead for 13 years.
Created by Judith Kerr the author/illustrator and based on the antics of her first family cat, the Mog series of books started with Mog the Forgetful Cat, which was first published in 1970 by HarperCollins Children’s Books and has never been out of print. Picture books are by their very nature short, meant to be read to small children with even smaller attention spans, and so there is often not quite enough text to fill a full half hour. Lupus Films are known for their adaptation of other classics, including The Tiger Who Came to Tea, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and The Snowman and The Snowdog.
The team last worked together on Emmy award-winning adaptation of Kerr’s The Tiger Who Came to Tea, which was the third highest-rating programme on the channel in the whole of 2019.
