Description

This beautiful cookbook brings together over 100 of the nation's favourite recipes from the second series of BBC2's MUMS KNOW BEST. It includes Si and Dave's personal family recipes as well as their favourite recipes that they discover through the mums they meet and the recipe fairs they hold. Episodes include Comforting Food, High Tea, School Dinners and Al Fresco.

En route, Si and Dave rustle up some food that they find comforting - creamy tomato soup with rouille, home-made fish fingers, a rich oxtail stew and a classic steamed syrup pudding. We open the show with the Recipe Fair in full swing, but before the banquet is served, we get the opportunity to learn about the Featured Mums and, crucially, the history surrounding their dishes

The Hairy Bikers' Food Tour of Britain: Delicious Regional Recipes from the Nation's Favourite Cooking Duo and 30 of the UK's Top Chefs The travelling over, it is the day of the Mums Know Best recipe fair where foodie folk come together to swap recipes and talk about the stories behind them. The three 'star mums' share their recipes with an eager public while volunteers take part in a culinary skills challenge. This time, Gerard Baker shows how to make a hand-raised pie. The day ends with the Mums Know Best banquet, an eclectic meal featuring all the dishes from their journey. The Hairy Bikers' British Classics: Over 100 Recipes That Celebrate Simple, Timeless Cooking and the Nation’s Favourite Dishes Si and Dave comment: "Well here we go! What a treat, food with a load of love! Great British food from the custodians of culinary traditions, our Mams, Grannies and Dads. We have rummaged in the bottom drawers, cupboards and memories of houses and families across the nation for their secrets, recipes and top cooking tips. It’s been a great party. We’ve been around the world, baked ourselves into a frenzy and nibbled and cooked some of the best food in the country. Now it’s time for something really special, truly delicious food from the people who know best". Return the frying pan to a low heat and add the onions, garlic, carrots and celery. Add a little extra oil if necessary. Cook gently for 10 minutes, or until softened and lightly browned, stirring occasionally.

An irresistible collection of recipes that will inspire you to keep cooking with love for the people that matter to you most.

The Hairy Bikers' Veggie Feasts: Over 100 Delicious Vegetarian and Vegan Recipes, Full of Flavour and Meat Free! Mix the butter, parsley, garlic, spring onions and grated cheese in a bowl. Divide this stuffing into four and form each portion into a sausage shape. Set aside. Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in a large frying pan. Brown the oxtail over a medium heat for about 10 minutes, turning every now and then, until dark brown all over. You may need to add extra oil if the pan looks dry at any point during the browning step. Put the browned oxtail into a flameproof casserole dish. (You may need to do this in batches.)Nothing connects you to home like the smell of the food your mum used to cook, so the Hairy Bikers visit three mums to share their unique taste of home. Along the way the boys rustle up two of their own favourite tastes of home, a spaghetti bolognese and home made Battenberg cake. But it's also a call to arms; the series aims to bring together grannies, mums and daughters who love to cook, to ensure that these precious historical documents of our shared national cuisine are preserved for the future.
