The drive is a 3.5" SATA II drive. You would do better to consider a drive specifically designed for PVR usage. This is one drive that is suitable Link to EBuyer

Seeing all tested out but unable to find a master boot record to repair – I just Fdisked and formatted the disc from the HUMAX to the Etc3 linux format this link is helpful http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/redhat-centos-linux-ext3-filesystem-format- So that's it. A neat, classy set-top box that works well, is sensibly priced and would be a real pleasure to live with. Sounds like a deal to us...

I assume the OS on these boxes is some sort of Linux distro. Is the OS actually on the drive or held in NVram?

With the picture quality and ease of use of the award-winning PVR9200T, but with twice the hard-drive size, the addition of an HDMI output capable of delivering upscaled pictures to make the most of your flatscreen TVs, and some truly useful new recording options this new Humax would make a fantastic upgrade to an existing freeview box. We hoped this would allow transfer of recordings to a PC for editing, or MP3 and JPEG files to the hard disk as per the 9200T, but sadly the port was redundant on our unit. Humax says this non-functional oddity will eventually be removed, as users apparently don't regard USB as a key feature. If I find a way to connect it up to a PC and do a full format (I only have a 'family' laptop myself and don't want to start messing with that), is there any particular type of format that's required?this proprietary format takes the HDD out of any real use for anything outside the PVR until it is reformatted to ext3 or other non proprietary format......... The rear panel is even more interesting. The most significant addition is HDMI output, which offers a clean all-digital connection to your flat-panel TV and allows you to upscale Freeview pictures to 720p, but strangely not 1080i. It’s taken a while for HDMI to make its way to the Freeview PVR market but with Humax and Topfield leading the way, others are sure to follow suit. I will concede that my solution is destructive of data but would argue that a PVR is inherently more about time-shift than it is about long term storage of masses of media. There are other methods significantly more appropriate for this task - including netflix! and iTunes Note: If your receiver is connected to a TV that does not support compressed audio using a HDMI cable, There are three varieties of what people call the skipping problem. Doing a "Humax" format will help with one of them.

Tesco Mobile is to start charging new and recently joining pay-monthly customers to use their mobiles in Europe from 2024.In fact the only operational flaws we could find were minor ones – to enter the list of recorded programmes, you have to enter the setup menu rather than simply hitting a button on the remote. Also, when you select a recording to watch, it plays in a small box and you have to manually exit the menu to expand it to full screen, which seems more long winded than it should be. Additionally, you can also watch a recording from the start while it’s still being recorded thanks to the Chase Play feature, or watch a previous recording while recording two channels. A few unusual features do make up for it, though, including the ability to edit out unwanted scenes, a picture-in-picture mode, subtitle recording and a quartet of games.

I have a 9300t 320Gb and wanted to upgrade the drive; I'm having to constantly manage capacity and it's getting 'glitchy'. The plan was to put the new disk in, format it and if all was well, transfer the files from the old disk. Unfortunately I hit a snag; here's what happened: During TV viewing, you can summon the 'iPlate', which provides more information about the current programme than any rational being could ever need. An idea maybe is that since you can replay them is to get a HDMI splitter (example only) and connect the PVR to a TV and a PC via the splitter and then use a video capture card in the PC to copy and save the videos to maybe an external HDD connected to the PC. Colours are vivid and accurate, edge stability is first-rate and setting recordings is brilliantly simple, thanks to an easy-to-understand seven-day EPG. Yes. Fit the new drive, power the box up, it will notice the new drive and offer to format it; less than five seconds later the job will be done.
