At the beginning of the book, Belly, Conrad, and Steven are teenagers. As they become adults, they start exploring love and other life issues. Surrounded by Laurel's friend Susannah ( Rachel Blanchard) , her sons, Jeremiah ( Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad ( Christopher Briney) , and another teen named Cam ( David Iacono), Belly suddenly finds herself in an emotional love story she never saw coming.The show and book are two such incredibly different things that it seems like the show tries to fix the many, many issues that this book has, and I find that very funny. The show managed to have more plot than the books do, which is very rare for a show to do. I'm more than certain that I was influenced by the tv show and its portrayal of the characters because I was a simp for Conrad all book long, even if the narration didn't really make me feel something. It's in plain sight, tho: it doesn't matter what she's doing or who she is with, Belly always finds a way to think about Conrad. This is love, people!

I also just couldn't connect with the story, I mean all the book is about how much she loooooves Conrad (one of her mom's best friend's sons) and everything in her lifes revolves around Conrad.The books begin when Belly, Steven, Conrad (Belly’s lifelong crush), and Jeremiah are teenagers, beginning to grow into adults and explore love and other more complicated life issues. There’s a love triangle and so much more in store for Belly along the way. On the other hand, Jeremiah is an awful brother and I stand with that. Maybe a little less here, but I’ll give him time.
