Description
Now each of the main spirit chapters has a brief, basic chapter introduction alongside a flavour wheel but frustratingly there is no mention in the book on how to use the wheel. Each recipe is easy as well as excellent and the recipes are divided up by type of spirit (gin, vodka, rum, whisky, brandy, tequila, liqueurs, sparkling and fortified wines) to keep things both simple and splendid.
We are delighted to share these three recipes from the book, with permission from publisher Quadrille. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Here are 200 recipes from the rich flavour of an ABC Cocktail, through to the complicated but delicious sweet and spice mix of a Zombie. With tips and techniques, quotes and notes, this alphabetical anthology will interest the curious and dare the adventurous. The title of Olly Smith’s latest book, Home Cocktail Bible, set a whole bunch of expectations for my husband and me, and we’re guessing the same applies to you. Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition.Olly’s chatty style and evocative introductions do lead you to think of trying the Hurricane (which explains cleverly what two differently aged rums will bring to the drink), or his own invention, the Disco Dancing Mermaid, an azure party-starter based on Blue Curaçao. And there are certainly several more recipes for intriguing cocktails in the book that I am looking forward to trying.
Includes 200 recipes with age-old classics such as the daiquiri, dry martini, margarita and Long Island ice tea. Cocktails are soaring in popularity as the nation's tastes grow more sophisticated and people are thirsty for new flavours and experiences. Includes some interesting facts and figures including a list of the different glasses and tools used in cocktail making. It would be a boon to have an interesting short selection to serve up to friends that aren’t drinking alcohol.Whether you’re planning a lavish party or just indulging in a nightcap, The Classic Cocktail Bible gives you a range of inspirations to create the exotic and the timeless. It was easy to pull together with a bit of muddling, pouring and stirring, finally adding an oversized lump of ice. Presented in a bottle green faux-leather jacket with gold foil lettering and heat-burnished illustration.
If you want to know more about the transformative effect of using bitters, egg whites/foamers, or the impact of different shapes, sizes and consistencies of ice, muddling or shaking, or whether, as Olly says, a drink is quenching or comforting (the Index doesn’t even list Sours), look elsewhere. The Cocktail Bible: An A-Z of two hundred classic and contemporary cocktail recipes, with anecdotes for the curious and tips and techniques for the adventurous - this green faux leatheer bound book is the perfect gift for the sophisticated drinker.
