Tam gdzie są dzieciaki, tam coś zmieniają, pomagają, sprawiają że wszystko staje się lepsze i wierzą że możemy zmienić świat.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I love that the main character is a female black girl and she joins a Jewish boy (one can see the yarmulke) and together they clean up their hometown, picking up empty discarded bottles in the park. We have planned for activities at different stages, grouped into key-stages: Reception with Year 1, Year 2 with Year 3 and then Year 4 to Year 6, or grouped simply into EYFS with KS1 and KS2.Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. Gorman's performance of her poem The Hill We Climb at the 2021 Presidential Inauguration received critical acclaim and international attention. Chociaż drugi tom historii Franka I Finki jest moim pierwszym spotkaniem z twórczością Anety Jadowskiej, to już wiem, że muszę przeczytać pierwszy tom i koniecznie inne książki tej autorki! The illustrations, created with acrylics and colored pencil, have much more appeal for me than the text since each page seems to invite readers to join in this song of change in whatever way they can--in voice, with an instrument, or even through helping hands or actions. Beautiful and artistic book about a little girl who inspires children, each unique, to use their voice (and instruments) to make change.

I hadn’t known she had written this children’s book but when I saw she had, I immediately knew it was a treasure. Children who are different from her – they look different, they may have some different interests – but they find common ground through music, through musical instruments and playing those musical instruments together. Loren Long's illustrations are done by hand (also unusual as more and more picture book art is done digitally) using acrylics and colored pencil on illustration board. When we sing together our voice becomes stronger; so strong that eventually even those who do not want to hear will have to listen. It might take ‘some courage’ to show tolerance, but then again, we need to ‘fight’ to build a ‘bigger bridge’ rather than a ‘taller fence’.And they show tolerance for a boy who plugs his ears at their music; they offer him a smaller instrument (perhaps it won’t sound as loud to him? In rich language and vivid art, this hopeful celebration of the life-affirming power of change to ripple out into a better future is irresistible. Although I appreciate the sentiment expressed in this picture book and the idea that change is coming, I am not particularly a fan of the poetry. As page follows page they continue to reach out to others, “though it might take some courage” and to model little acts of kindness: feeding the destitute, delivering groceries to an elderly person, constructing a ramp for a disabled child and all the time building the song, gathering instruments and changing their community for the better; building towards a glorious symbolic mural of their own. After watching Poet Laureate Amanda Gordon speak so eloquently at President Biden's (January, 21, 2021) inauguration I was mesmerized and an instant fan of this young, very talented wordsmith.

What’s more, Loren Long’s pictures are glorious, with their changes in perspective, cinematic colour, considered characterisations.A Piece of Passion from Francesca Dow, Managing Director at Penguin Random House Children’s UK says: ‘At Puffin, we believe in the power of stories to change lives. While not overt, there are very clear references that adult readers will recognise to the political situation in Gorman’s home country, the USA. Jesteś zmianą” i „Franek i Finka” to książki, które absolutnie idealnie nadają się na rozpoczęcie przygody z czytaniem u najmłodszych! In this stirring, much-anticipated audiobook by presidential inaugural poet and activist Amanda Gorman, anything is possible when our voices join together. He pursued graduate-level studies at the American Academy of Art in Chicago after graduating with a BA in Graphic Design/Art Studio from the University of Kentucky.

The two work together in harmony with each other (yes, the musical reference was very deliberately added in there), and in this book both the poetry and illustrations tell the story together. We might find that playing together means we can make music together, we can live in harmony, we can enjoy each other’s music and company. This is a poem about change (obviously) that uses music as a metaphor with accompanying artwork illustrating the many ways change can happen (ex. As a young girl leads a cast of characters on a musical journey, they learn that they have the power to make changes-big or small-in the world, in their communities, and in most importantly, in themselves. The lyrics for the United States national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner," come from the "Defence of Fort M'Henry," a poem written by lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key.

I am a huge fan of Gorman, not just because of her poetry, but because of the message that she sends to the world. Loren Long's vivid and colorful illustrations are the perfect imagery as they seamlessly bring this powerful and timely book to life. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything.
