A white Hydrangea bush in a pale blue pot is so simple and elegant. It’s a good idea to use glazed clay pots or plastic pots for larger shrubs that likes moisture in soil, especially if you live in a hot and dry climate. Here are some great examples of how edibles can be mixed with ornamental plants in garden pots. Plants such as artichokes, swiss chards, onions and chives have dramatic foliage that look great in pots. Key's memoir captivates from beginning to end. I listened to the audiobook with great admiration. “Arrangements in Blue” is a must-read/listen for anyone seeking a broader emotional palette beyond the confines of traditional romance. Amy Key is an extraordinary writer and I believe her memoir will become a classic for future generations. The same could be said for this book. Key draws on the words of other artists to express almost ineffable emotions and experiences, but she also does so with her own nuanced, thoughtful writing: “I can want romantic love at the same time as valuing and being fulfilled by what is present in its absence.” Understanding how to get expensive flowers to look great in a display without taking all day to do it has won (Sim) a Silver Flower Arranging Talent Badge!

Bananas, Canna Lilies and Colocasias (Taro plants) are some of the easiest and most dramatic tropical plants to grow. Blue is a lens through which [Mitchell] sees so many things, sees so many shades of life – her home, a lover’s name, a child’s eyes, sadness, travel, grief, sex, desire, renewal,” writes Key. Can scent arrangements with Snapdragons and Chrysanthemums Level 3 arrangements will be of higher quality Having access to death flowers and being flower arranging skill level 9 or higher, a Sim can age up and kill other Sims by gifting them death flower scented flower arrangements. Upon opening these gifts, the receiving Sim will age up once every gift and die upon getting given the gift while being an elder. A beautiful container garden does not have to have all the colors of a rainbow. Sometimes variations of one color, such as the yellows or burgundy colors below, can look drop-dead-gorgeous.

These hot colors really stand out, perfect for those who love colorful vibrant garden designs. Support taller vines with a trellis and add more dimensions to a mixed pot.

A Wildflower Bouquet costs §47 to craft and sells for §55. A Tulip Bouquet costs §61 to craft and sells for §70. Succulents often have interesting colors and textures, which look beautiful mixed with flower plantings. Can craft arrangements with Orchids and Birds of Paradise Can scent arrangements with Roses and Dahlias Level 2 arrangements will be of higher quality As it looks at our ideas about starting a family, making a home and even going on holiday, Key’s writing makes clear how pervasive the presumption of coupledom still is. “Nothing has displaced romantic love from its holy status,” she writes, noting the attendant rituals, milestones and material markers – wedding rings and registries, due dates, anniversaries and date nights – that hover out of reach for single people. Plant list 13: Colocasia, Croton, Coleus “Strawberry Drop”, Sweet Potato Vine ( Source: BHG ) 14. Beautiful container garden ideas with easy care flowers i knew i would love this book long before it came out. I read one of amy key's essays a year or two ago and felt myself reflected in her words. a lot has changed since then, but i still found this book resonating so strongly with me. i listened to it on audiobook (read beautifully by key herself) and felt a pang when I saw there was only an hour and a half left. several parts of the book, particularly the later chapters brought tears to my eyes. i hate describing women who write honestly about their lives as brave, but i do think key is brave to write so openly about her experiences of being single and the journey her life has taken. key takes a topic so many people feel deep shame and self-doubt about (including myself at times earlier in my life!) and shows her vulnerability and strength throughout the book. key's prose is luminous and poetic throughout the book, but it particularly shines in the later chapters. i loved the "crazy" chapter detailing her experiences with men which lasted months and years but never fell under the placeholder of "partner/boyfriend" and found it very relatable. key's candour about these relationships (because yes! you are allowed to call them relationships) is so refreshing - i often feel women are pressured into diminishing the impact of the people who treat us badly, especially if this happens outside the limits of a clearly defined romantic partnership. her description of caring for her friend and mentor roddy lumsden through his illness and eventually mourning him after his death is painfully honest but shot through with such tenderness that i nearly cried listening to it. and the final chapter is a beautiful end to the book, with such warm and hopeful reflections on human connection and care outside and within romantic love.
