Description

Features-wise it’s a straightforward kettle though, with no choice of water temperature or keep warm function. Filling the DeLonghi is no problem. The lid is a bit of a pain as you’ll need to use your second hand to pop it off, but the spout is big enough and at the right angle that you can fill via the spout instead. The lid is also quite small, which means that it’s a pain to reach inside if you’re trying to scrub away limescale, especially when the limescale filter and max level indicator get in the way. The detachable lid with large handle makes for easy filling, and this smart kettle also features a generously sized drip-free spout and ergonomic handle for perfect pouring. A removable and washable limescale filter will ensure your water is always at its perfect-cuppa best and help keep your kettle working efficiently for longer.

A generous 1.7 litre capacity means you won’t have to keep filling it up to satisfy everyone’s thirst, but if you only want to make one or two cups, the handy viewing window lets you see the water level so you can save energy by only boiling exactly what you need. Maybe. Its design is lovely apart from the lid. And it does the job fine. But it is pricey for a basic kettle. And it’s noisy. A small lever near the base turns the kettle on and a little orange light illuminates to indicate the fact that it’s heating. With a 360° swivel base and its viewing window behind the handle, it’s perfect for both right- and left-handed people, and also has non-slip feet to keep it firmly in place.

The power cord is a bit on the short side at 70cm though. And while the lid is attractive it’s a bit annoying. You have to pop it off manually, which means using two hands if you want to fill the kettle via the lid rather than the spout. It took a pretty average 2m32s to boil a litre of water that started out at 14⁰C from the tap. We measured the temperature after 10 mins (83⁰C) and again after 30 mins (67⁰C), both of which are respectable.
