The dinosaur player has won every single time the game’s hit the table for my group and this seems to be very common – the balance is off, with the dinosaurs feeling far too powerful. All of the main characters from the movie are represented, which is no mean feat (which means that we can choose to be the aforementioned Ray Arnold and even Dennis Nedry or Robert Muldoon).

The character cards contain photos of the actual characters from the first movie, and even the dinosaur tokens are nicely made. That each of them has a deck and character goal that fits so perfectly with their character is a brilliant touch. That keeps the moment-to-moment gameplay fresh and the timeline moving forward toward the next film. Cinematic gameplay - One player controls savage dinosaurs while the others play as a group of iconic characters working together to outsmart the dinosaurs and survive! You can not take cards out of the burn pile if your discard pile is empty you can not replenish your cards.When rolling to use a card you can boost your roll by burning one of more of the cards in your hand. That’s because it’s Pandemic but with new elements that get revealed with certain events and decisions you make in one game carry over to the next game. Even the pack-in organizer — the cardboard thing that holds all the bits in place between games — has the same woven pattern you might find in car interiors or home furnishings more than 70 years ago. Games such as their excellent, minis-based Doom board game or the ‘secret Cylon’ Battlestar Galactica game show an understanding of the source material with gameplay that’s deep, satisfying and addictive.
