This does not apply to any perishable goods, unsealed software or item personalised or made to your specification. Montane's Men's Duality Lite Jacket stands as the ultimate solution for individuals seeking a perfect blend of warmth and weather protection in a single package, designed to meet the demands of mountain walking and mountaineering. If your item is under warranty, please contact us so that we can resolve the claim in the best and most timely manner. Zip: As with the Fitzroy this is another chunky two-way zip which feels like it'll really last the distance.

For example recycled content, Responsible Down Standard certified down, and branded yarns like Tencel ™. Each fiber of the insulation is coated with a permanent water repellent which means the filling absorbs virtually no water and dries exceptionally quickly. Timescale to deal with your claim - for technical faults or repairs we use the services of the original manufacturer or nominated agent for inspection, testing and high quality guaranteed repairs. It was too warm for the walk-in of course, but on gearing up I layered it over a base layer and a normal weight VapourRise jacket, dispensing with the shell I might normally wear against wind and spindrift.Either helmeted or not, the hood moves well with my head side-to-side, but with a lid on and the hood fully zipped the full head-back position feels slightly hampered and my chin tends to pop out.

Outer: Protecting all that gorgeous insulation is a tough, breathable, durable 40D Gore-tex with Gore Performance Technologies. I’ve got an Enduro now but briefly had a Helki and before that a Velez smock for years and years and before that I briefly had a Cascada. I’ve found I’ve been able to wear it from the depths of winter through to warm spring days, and it has become my go-to jacket. I have a collection of Frahm jackets that cover everyday life and dog walking, however when it’s really cold I go for the Alpkit, or my old Montane Extreme. The insulation is very comfortable and effective, and the gore tex waterproofing keeps you completely dry as you would expect.

I’ve had my buffalo for years (army) as well as a cycling one I got for much cheapness as people were too stupid to realise how brilliant it was… they’ve both had much abuse and still going strong. Combining a GORE-TEX® outer and PrimaLoft® insulation, this jacket is waterproof, windproof, breathable and comfortable. This jacket boasts two very large hand pockets, plus two Napoleon-style chest pockets which are a little smaller but still generous enough to fit an OS map; there's even an internal pocket too (again, I doubt I'd use it much).

A longer length provides additional coverage and maximum protection for walking in the hills and mountains. In our many years of selling samples, we have found that 99% of them are exactly the same as the finished production version.Of course different days bring different weather, and since I haven't tested them under controlled conditions in a wind tunnel or a giant freezer my impressions of warmth and weatherproofness are just that – impressions. For climbers it has the best hood, but the hand pockets are too low to be much use with a harness or hip belt.

Montane Duality (or non-Lite, ignore the RRP) seemed to fit the bill, but the sizing doesn’t work for me. The hood is good for walkers but sadly a headache for climbers, simply too tight to accommodate a helmet and permit decent head movement. All three are from UK-based firms, and built (albeit not in Britain) with the soggy British cold in mind. A more breathable UltraSoft fabric is used inside, while ME have reverted to Drilite Loft II for the lining of the hood and inside the bottom hem. The waterproof and windproof outer helps trap warm air inside the jacket while the synthetic insulation retains heat and keeps the cold at bay. I was going to recommend the Columbia jacket I have (from SP) but it’s not on their web-site anymore (if you do look at Columbia then IME their jacket sizing is massive, I’m an XXL in t-shits, inc. Because they remain accessible whatever you're doing I didn't have to stop and faff to retrieve my warmer gloves.
