Description

Watery and lightweight sunscreen offers SPF 50+ PA+++ protection along with Phyto-Oligo, walnut oil, Centella asiatica extracts and sodium hyaluronate to keep skin moisturized and refreshed. Phthalate-free formulation. My main concern is protection against UVA radiation and I assume this is an SPF 30, PA++ for this purpose. Let me explain: A mainly oil-loving, vegetable raw material based ingredient that helps water and oil to mix together, aka emulsifier. It can also function as a wetting and dispersing agent helping insoluble particles such as color pigments or inorganic sunscreens (zinc/titanium dioxide) to disperse nice and even in liquids. [more] what‑it‑does Uvinul A Plus - A new generation, chemical sunscreen agent (not available in the US due to impossible FDA regulations) that's designed for high UVA protection and high photostability.

An emollient plant oil that contains nourishing fatty acids and antioxidant vitamin E. It's especially rich in α-Linolenic acid (42-49%). DHHB is a new style filter that is photostable, has a large molecular size and therefore does not penetrate the skin. It does not need to be present in high percentage quantities to give effective protection. A natural multi-functional ingredient that has emollient and moisturizing properties, can work as a co-emulsifier and has a strong antimicrobial activity. If you are someone who likes to know what you put on your face then fragrance is not your best friend - there's no way to know what’s really in it. An oil-soluble chemical sunscreen agent that protects skin in the UVB and somewhat in the UVA II range with a peak absorption of 304 nm. Its protection is not strong enough on its own but it is quite photostable (loses 10% of SPF protection in 95 mins) and is often used to stabilize other photo-unstable UV-filters, for example, Avobenzone. It is also often used to improve the water resistance of the products.

It's also loaded with fatty acids(mostly linoleic (50-74%) and oleic (14-35%)). The unrefined version(be sure to use that on your skin!) is especially high in linoleic acid that is great even for acne-prone skin. Its comedogen index is 0, meaning that it's pretty much an all skin-type oil. Regarding Homosalate's safety profile, we do not have the best news. In-vitro (made in the labs) studies have shown that it might have some estrogenic activity. Do not panic, these studies were not conducted on real humans under real world conditions. Still, if you are a 'better safe than sorry' type, be careful when using Homosalate containing sunscreens long-term and full-body. For the record, my skin type is dry dehydrated. So I expect all my sunscreens to leave my skin moisturized with a dewy finish. Bonus points if there is no white cast. With that being said, I’m gonna be judging this sunscreen based on how well it worked for my skin type. Pros I used this sunscreen briefly, and I have some thoughts. I’d say its about 95% apricot and 5% sunscreen smell. Smell-o-scale: 7/10 in terms of how strong the scent is. After basic skincare, take a proper amount of the product, then spread evenly on the area with will be exposed to sun. Use before exposure to the sun. Apply again to maintain protection, especially after sweating, swimming or wiping with a towel.A 100% plant derived, natural (Ecocert approved) multi-functional ingredient that has emollient and moisturizing properties, can work as a co-emulsifier (meaning that next to other emulsifiers it can help water and oil to mix) and even more importantly has a strong antimicrobial activity.

No harmful chemicals are present and the product’s SPF is at least 30. (The harmful chemicals that I look for are BHT, parabens, formaldehyde releasing preservatives and Oxybenzone. 3) What UVA and UVB sunscreen filters are present? Like how I was going on and on about texture and smell about sunscreens, this one from Thank you farmer is very comfortable on the skin, doesn’t dry my skin out or have that weird powdery finish that is oily at the same time. If no one told me this was sunscreen, I’d think this was just another milky essence since it doesn’t have that gross smell and absorbs into the skin and doesn’t leave a greasy finish. My skin definitely feels moisturized and doesn’t have a white cast. Ever since it was featured in the Allure Beauty Box, senior commerce writer Angela Trakoshis hasn't been able to get enough of the Dr. Jart+ Every Sun Day Mineral Sunscreen, especially since the nongreasy formula is so divine that it keeps her accountable for SPF application. "It's got zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to create a physical barrier that's safe for sensitive skin, and it dries down glowy without leaving a Casper-like cast," she says. "Whether I'm going on my daily walk or sitting by the window with my laptop, I'll never be tempted to skip sunscreen again." I am frequently asked to review South Korean sunscreens – Purito Centella and innisfree are a regular query I get. I don’t like reviewing South Korean sunscreens because I haven’t been convinced that they have high SPFs as advertised. Of course, I can now say this because Purito Centella has been at the heart of a testing scandal. It’s SPF 84 sunscreen was found to be SPF 19 in independent lab testing. Our intro did get pretty big after all (sorry for that), so let's get to the point finally: sunflower oil - similar to other plant oils - is a great emollient that makes the skin smooth and nice and helps to keep it hydrated. It also protects the surface of the skin and enhances the damaged or irritated skin barrier. Leslie Bauman notes in Cosmetic Dermatology that one application of sunflower oil significantly speeds up the recovery of the skin barrier within an hour and sustains the results 5 hours after using it.

We've said it once, and we'll say it again: Korean sunscreen is just better than Western sunscreen. This statement comes down to innovation. Because sunscreen is considered a drug according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and its chemicals and components must undergo formal drug approval processes, stateside beauty brands are limited by what they can spike their formulas with. In fact, "there hasn't been a new [chemical or mineral] approved for use in sunscreens in the U.S. since 1999," according to cosmetic chemist Stephen Ko. These are all old style UVB filters, which should together give the product an SPF 50 and I don’t doubt from a UVB perspective this is a SPF 50 product.

THANK YOU FARMER - Sun Project Water Sun Cream - YesStyle

Asides from Centella Asiatica and Sodium Hyaluronate, this sun cream doesn’t have the typical ingredients I usually see in Korean sunscreens. It is formulated with a bunch of plant extracts, including fragrance. They include: Good old water, aka H2O. The most common skincare ingredient of all. You can usually find it right in the very first spot of the ingredient list, meaning it’s the biggest thing out of all the stuff that makes up the product. This sunscreen has a pH level of 5, meaning it is very unlikely to irritate human skin since it is as close of a pH level to flesh as it possibly could.

Purslane Extract - a traditional Korean medicinal plant with skin-soothing, antioxidant and wound healing abilities. It's a super commonly used water-thin volatile silicone that gives skin and hair a silky, smooth feel. If you live in the EU, sunscreen regulation requires 1/3 of SPF to protect against UVA radiation. I’d happily assume this is a 1/3 of an SPF 30 product The only UVA and UVB filter present is Titanium Dioxide (11th ingredient), which is a better UVB filter than UVA filter. You'll see some familiar, editor-beloved ingredients in Thank You Farmer's Sun Project Water Sun Cream, including soothing aloe leaf and hydrating sunflower seed extracts. But this hybrid SPF, which means it contains both mineral and chemical filters (homosalate, octorylene, and titanium dioxide, to be exact), is also derm-approved as well. " Centella asiatica extract and bamboo water are two key ingredients that soothe and hydrate the skin," Eunice Park, MD, a dual board-certified facial plastic surgeon based in Long Island, NY, and founder of AIREM says, noting that this moisturizing sunscreen is ideal for normal to dry skin types.
