Newman, Alex (December 31, 2016). "ICYMI: Newton Native Rachel Platten Headlining New Year's Eve Webcast". Patch Media . Retrieved January 1, 2017. British single certifications – Rachel Platten – Fight Song". British Phonographic Industry . Retrieved October 6, 2020. The dragons and the dreki (little dragons) were really cool and I liked all the side characters (the nice ones haha), and I also like that there is not necessarily a simple 'good and evil' binary in what's going on either. Eldra Brannis is a patron saint of sorts for the slayers. The Eldir seem to be similar to saints as well, and the religion seems inspired by Catholocism and perhaps the minor gods of The Silmarillion. Alisa questions whether she can speak to the Maker without going through Eldra Brannis, and I think that will be a theme in the upcoming books. In the United Kingdom, the song jumped from number sixty eight to the top of the UK Singles Chart on August 28, 2015 – for the week ending date September 3, 2015 – becoming Platten's first chart-topping song, and overall top ten hit, in Britain. [11] [12]

I was so proud to watch Alísa grow as a character. That took time, too. But there was a certain high point that made me proud all through (even if I got MASSIVE SECOND-HAND EMBARRASSMENT!), and after that, each accumulating milestone was exciting. The relationship dynamics between her and each character were fun to watch, and I'm eager to see how one or two in particular carry forward into the next book.

Moss, Liv (August 28, 2015). "Rachel Platten conquers Official Singles Chart as Fight Song hits Number 1: "I can't really believe it" ". officialcharts.com. The Official Charts Company . Retrieved August 29, 2015. Songflight has a wonderful Celtic fantasy feel in a very cool world that I enjoyed getting pulled into. Filled with chiefs and dragons, mountains and forests, a chieftain’s daughter and several scheming plots, it was an epic read! It’s kind of like Brave meets How to Train Your Dragon and I’m here for it. *grinning* Songflight is a deeply moving story. The main character is a fantasy empath, a.k.a. a heightened, almost tangible perception of others' feelings, which causes emotion to be a consistent and raw presence in the narration. Beyond even Alísa's empath gift, however, she's a deeply empathetic and passionate character. She feels not just others' emotions strongly, but her own. She cares and cares hard. The constant inundation of feeling can be almost overwhelming for the reader — and it certainly is so for Alísa herself. IFPI" (in Czech). Hitparáda – Radio Top 100 Oficiální. IFPI Czech Republic. Retrieved October 1, 2021. I received Songflight as an eARC, which did nothing to alter my opinion of this book. This review is spoiler-free. It would be interesting to explore the empath powers thematically throughout Songflight, and in just how many respects they portray or typify empathetic struggles, whether there's any more nuanced analogy going on; but that would require a reread on my part that I don't currently have time to give ;)

Alisa’s a relatable heroine and following her on her journey was so cool, especially continuing against all odds, and as she meets others on her quest. There’s a great cast of characters, like the different dragons, such as Graydonn who is epic and loyal and I would like to ride him, yes please; and Sesina, young and playful and energetic; and Chri, one of the precious but wise Dreki! And, yes, even humans, like Falier—he’s the best! I wanted more of Falier. XD They and others are all such loyal friends for Alisa and—I’m having a feeling. Loved these characters! Top Digital - Classifica settimanale WK 36 (dal 2015-09-04 al 2015-09-10)". Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana . Retrieved September 21, 2015.

Dragonssss! Okay, obviously the best part of this book is that there are dragons in it. Sooo many dragons, and I loved how there were lots of different kinds of characters among them. And there were also . . . TINY DRAGONS! Called Dreki, the tiny dragons were the absolute greatest, and I loved that they existed as well as the big, ridable kind. The Dreki make me so happy! Gottlieb, Steven (May 19, 2015). "Rachel Platten "Fight Song" (James Lees, dir.)". Video Static . Retrieved June 22, 2015. [ permanent dead link] Fight Song" was named the official theme song of the 2016 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship held in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Each game was opened with images of the participating countries as well as flag bearers who represented each country at centre ice as the song played.

Bob Dylan – Masters Of War (1963)

Okay, I have a lot of feelings about this book (and for good reason) so bear with me for this rather lengthy review! Alísa’s voice drew me in, and I can’t get over how much I love her character. She’s sensitive and vulnerable, but she’s also willing to make hard decisions and face the consequences. IFPI" (in Slovak). Hitparáda – Radio Top 100 Oficiálna. IFPI Czech Republic. Note: insert 201535 into search. This book had a fascinating way of scattering songs throughout the book — appropriately, considering the title, and logically, considering Alísa's stammer. I haven't read many books that incorporate so much verse, and I was impressed by the result here. I didn't *love* all the songs, but I enjoyed the variety of metrics and styles and TRULY appreciated the author's evident experience in this area (I know when I'm reading mediocre lyrics and it's not fun).

Banks, who directed the 2015 film Pitch Perfect 2, used a style and sound consistent with the film, and enlisted many of the stars for the new "Fight Song." The ensemble was comprised mostly of actors (America Ferrera, Eva Longoria, Connie Britton), but also featured folks more likely to carry the tune, including Sia and Idina Menzel (Rachel Platten) was also part of the project. The song first charted in Australia, debuting at 35 on the ARIA Charts on April 12, 2015. The song eventually peaked at number 2 in Australia on July 12, 2015. [6] It later reached number 8 in New Zealand after first being covered as a charity single by The X Factor top 12. [7]The plot is paced to perfection, following the usual highs and lows of a coming of age tale yet never feeling contrived or dragging. It's a slow, steady sort of book with plenty of heart and heartbreak along the way. The ending is the perfect sort of cliffhanger; not too abrupt, but with promise of hard times to come even after the standard Happy For Now. The song has been used in a series of Ford TV commercials for their line of SUV's, namely, the 2015 Ford Edge and 2016 Ford Explorer. Fight Song" was named the official theme song for the 2015 "Rise Above Cancer" campaign that appeared on most WWE shows throughout the month of October as part of the company's partnership with Susan G. Komen.
