Cardan had trusted Nicasia not to hurt him, which was ridiculous, since he well knew that everyone hurts one another and that the people you loved hurt you the most grievously. Since he was well aware that they both took delight in hurting everyone else that they could, how could he have thought himself safe? Vivienne "Vivi" Duarte: Eva and Madoc's daughter; Justin's adopted daughter; Jude and Taryn's half-sister; Oak's adoptive sister; Heather's girlfriend

Jude, acting as Queen, tries to formulate how to maintain her rule against Madoc's threat and solve Cardan's curse. Madoc and the Court of Teeth offer Jude the gift of a golden bridle that would be able to control Cardan. She later learns that they gave her incorrect instructions on how to use it, which would have tied her to the snake and left Madoc in control. A plan is made for Jude to capture the snake, but instead of putting the bridle on him, she cuts the snake's head off. The second part of the prophecy – only out of his spilled blood can a great ruler rise – is fulfilled when Cardan, in his original form, emerges from the pool of the snake's blood. In the Epilogue, Cardan and Jude are crowned and they banish Madoc to live in the human world. first of all, I LOVE Cardan and Jude, ugh Jude my woman I loved her personality she's a woman who knows what she wants and she was strong, brave and powerful. I just loved her so much, and I really enjoyed the whole series, but as an individual!! the first book "the cruel prince" was a bit confusing and.... I won't say boring but it was slow?? idk all that cloth description really pissed me off haha :D but still, I really really enjoyed this series it's one of my favourites. it's actually what got me to BookTok (yes I'm new). my love Cardan uff I love him SO MUCH, He's all I want. Perfect Perfect Perfect. I really loved his personality he's definitely my type haha. The book is a collection of short stories organized into nine chapters, which are richly illustrated. The chapters include stories from Cardan's early childhood, occurring before the main trilogy; stories occurring within the timespan of the trilogy, told from Cardan's point of view; and stories occurring after the events of The Queen of Nothing.Cardan Greenbriar, despite me absolutely despising him in TCP because of how much of an asshole he was to Jude and her twin sister Taryn, is a character I eventually came to love truly. Hours later, already on the next day I sat on my bed holding the book, now closed as I finished it, my only thought was, I need the next one. NOW. Rovina Cai’s art is truly so beautiful that it renders me speechless. I was already in love with her and her art because of her work with The Wayward Children series, but this entire book feels like am immersive work of art. From the perfect color palette, to the most perfect details, she executes the vibe of Cardan and his story in a way that I don’t think another artist could. I genitori erano sempre in pensiero, sempre a bisbigliare…”

Our story begins with the Prince, now the King of Elfhame flying over waves as he thinks about the winding path of decisions that brought him here, racing over the sky as he tries to become the hero, instead of the villain. A prince of Faerie who once slept in the hay of the stables listening to the sounds of faerie steeds, of deer and elk, and even the croaks of great riding toads, who listened to the stories of Aslog of the West. Each part, each mini story, we get to see Cardan questioning who he is and who he wants to be. Not to make this too deep, but Cardan very slowly realizes that he is not responsible for the terrible acts his family committed; both to him and to the people they ruled over. He struggles with his identity of a prince who should feel like he has everything, and a boy who feels like he has nothing. But seeing him finally understand that he deserves not only love but unconditional love? Him slowly appreciating that his heart can be warm and beat unapologetically? Truly some powerful stuff.
