This seasonal romp from Sue Moorcroft provides all the festive feels, but the story is so much more than just a Christmas tale. I'm not, however, through with the fashion dichotomy that's unfolding in my exploration of winter 2023/2024’s trends. In a season which, by all accounts, is being applauded for accurately representing women and their needs, why is the industry ignoring a significant number of us in the process? Research carried out by Vogue Business found that, of 9137 looks across 219 shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris, just 0.6% were plus-size (UK 16+), and 3.8% were mid-size (UK 10 to 14). This means 95.6% of looks presented for winter 2023 were in sizes UK 4 to 8. Why is this the case? Some are blaming the trends themselves—much of the '90s and '00s looks that are currently resonating were first born in a thin cultural peak, and life as we know it is imitating that once more. I say let's speak the truth: The luxury fashion industry still has a problem with non-straight bodies, and any progress it has made to be more inclusive has regressed. In recent years, the body-positivity movement has continued to gain momentum and is an agenda-setting topic on social media, so why is it that so many brands are unwilling to embrace it? For this, I don't have the answer, but I can direct your attention to the brands that were body-positivity allies this season and whose shows I saw myself represented in—Karoline Vitto, Sinéad O'Dwyer, Ester Manas, Christian Siriano, Collina Strada and Di Petsa.Every time I read a new book by Sue Moorcroft I think, this is the best book she has written! It was the same after finishing A White Christmas on Winter Street.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I have finally read my first Elin Hilderbrand novel! And what a better way to start than with Winter Street, the first book of the Winter series. I've had this series on my shelf for a while and since it is December, I thought it would be the perfect time to get to them. Winter Street has a dash of romance, some holiday cheer, and a whole lot of family drama. It ended up being a lot more emotional than I had expected it to be, and this definitely goes above and beyond a Hallmark movie. In October 1974 Trent Regional Health Authority put the upgrading of Winter St Hospital out to tender; during which works the patients were moved out elsewhere. On 10 December 1975 it was recommended that the proposal to rename the reopened hospital & apos; St George& apos;s Hospital& apos; be passed to Sheffield Area Health Health Authority. Middledip is a beautiful village captured in the imagination of Sue Moorcroft, and has featured in a few of her wonderful books. It’s also the perfect setting for Christmas and snow, and A White Christmas on Winter Street will give you full on Christmassy vibes throughout. Although the location is a familiar one, this book works perfectly as a standalone.

Soon, Margaret will join the rest of the Quinns for their tumultuous holiday, but first the three adult children must wade further into their own personal dramas. Hilderbrand approaches much of this family drama with humor.

I’m a fan of many of Hilderbrand’s books and I’ve been looking forward to starting this series for a while. This was emotional and fun but just a bit too melodramatic and stuffed full of chaos. Every character had at least one issue to deal with, and none of them were simple, either.
