While this can be an issue, and while the lack of physical pieces does remove some tactility from the game, it also opens up unexpected design space. The game would only work if the graphic design of the cards was up to scratch and easy to read, and there has been some real care to make sure that the cards are easy to understand and you get a taste of the overall roll player universe. There is an ambush pack promo available for the game, and while I usually don't like promos, this is a perfect way to expand the types and shapes of monsters available for the game. If you turn up an Explore card that has a 2 printed on it then you have used up 2 of your 8 total time.

When drawing Monster shapes on your opponent’s map, try to consider how easily that player can fill in the adjacent squares. Alan (7 plays): I have found this a very straightforward easy game to get into and that I’ve introduced to many people. As long as they can see the terrain cards and the scoring cards then you can have as many people play as you have sheets. The number of players is limited only by the number of available score sheets; each box includes 100.Fill in the scores for each active Edict in the box at the bottom of the page, moving left to right for each season. Take the rest of the Explore Cards, add the first of the Ambush Cards, shuffle this new deck and place it face-down next to the Season deck. The overall scoring/ranking system seems to be messed up - scores aren't accurate (unless there is some other ranking system used, which is unclear) and dates and times of games played seems to be based off a single international date/time and not local to the phone.

With war and the Dragul forces likely to cross your path, Queen Gimnax has elected to send out heroes to protect you and Nalos. Or is it better to draw the larger shape, covering more of your map and potentially unlocking more scoring potential for the objective card? The theme did appeal though (we had 4 cats at one time, now we just have 1) and being a polyomino game it had potential but the icing on the cake were the family rules. So while I might prefer doing other things, I really need to take care of this Gnoll raid sooner rather than later. Therefore please treat this as a first thoughts piece, based on version of the game that we were provided with.

The only stipulation is that you should all use the same map and the explore cards aren’t combined between the two games. The game was also nominated for the 2020 Kennerspiel des Jahres, but lost to the trick-taking card game The Crew. Of course most games you will get lost in a couple of the objectives, forgetting the ones you were meant to concentrate on this round! At the same time, you also can't not build around the volcano, especially as the rest of your map fills up. Each round only looks at two of the four, sure; but you can try to setup big payoffs for future turns. If the player chooses to draw that shape, they are also going to be marking off a coin on their map sheet.
