Description

Emperor is an internationally acclaimed historical five-novel series about the life of Roman statesman and general Gaius Julius Caesar. This book was about Temujin’s coming-of-age and his struggle in uniting Mongol; it seems like the next installment, Genghis: Lords of the Bow, will start telling Genghis’s spreading conquest as one of the most terrifying rulers of our history, and you bet I will be jumping into it immediately. The series is based around the life of Julius Caesar, from childhood ( The Gates of Rome) to his eventual betrayal and death ( The Gods of War). Drawn together by their common cause, Antony and Octavian marshal their forces into an avenging army on a mission to reunite all that Caesar’s fall has torn asunder.

He is married to Ella, who is from the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy, and whose family are craft pasta and ravioli producers in the region.Pericles had not foreseen that so many people inside the city walls will bring its own problems, unrest, due to the large number of refugees, lack of homes and sanitation leads to squalor and illness, there were rumours of Plague, cholera and dysentery, all this brings Athens low, and his ships bringing in fresh supplies of water are held at the harbours, as fear of illness means no one wants to enter Athens.

Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Not only the flow of the prose never disrupted by the head-hopping narrative, but I also found myself completely engrossed by every POV switch; it was entertaining to see Iggulden juggles the variety of characters perspectives and emotions in scenes that are full of tension and drama. For years I’ve been interested in reading his books, and from what I’ve gathered, his Conqueror series seems to be the most often regarded as his best works by his readers. The Athenians ignored this demand which, of course, led to war, with the Spartans laying siege to Athens.I don't think vulnerable is a word that you could use for Sparta, but it has left them in an unenviable position as riots and natural disasters rock them to their foundations. Missed a great chance to have an interaction between Pericles and Pleistonax which could have made for fascinating reading. CI wrote them with sensitivity and elegance, making use of his deep understanding of human psychology. This help is snubbed and rising Athenian leader Pericles realises that whilst it may take Sparta time to recover, they will always be an enemy. However, Iggulden was tremendously skillful in implementing this narrative; I never felt lost and I was able to easily follow which character’s head I’m in.

This is a historical fiction series about Genghis Khan’s rise to power and if I’m not mistaken, eventually leading to his death and legacy.

Julius Caesar, fresh from triumph in Britain and Gaul, is marching on Rome with his legions of hardened veterans. For Gaius, the equally deadly infighting of the Roman Senate will be the battlefield where he hones his courage and skill.

Equally as fascinating as the story is Iggulden’s Historical Note, in which he expands on the background and detail of the historical record. These were the first Conn Iggulden set of books I read and from then on I was hooked on the words of this author and have since read the Conqueror series, the War of the Roses series, The falcon of Sparta, Dunstan and am currently half way through reading the Empire of Salt series. Both instalments of his Athenian series, The Gates of Athens and Protector, and his recent Golden Age series, Lion and Empire, are Sunday Times bestsellers. The author will always tell readers that he has changed certain things to assist in the telling of the overall story.Paper planes, stink bombs and fire-starting: The Dangerous Book for Boys has a sequel, and it's less PC than ever".
