This year, there are a flurry of new, limited edition labels launching in anticipation of the post-Halloween November 1 and November 2 holiday, promising stunning decanters and ultra-premium liquid that aren’t to be missed. Literally translating to “day of the dead,” the celebrations couldn’t be more full of life as families craft ornate altars strewn with bright marigolds and papel picado , traditional folk art designed out of vibrant-hued tissue paper.

As an essential part of the altar, papel picado is a decorative banner created from a thin tissue-paper often cut with unique patterns. Master distiller Viridiana Tinoco undertook a 25-month ageing process for the release, with the añejo Tequila starting in American whiskey casks before being finished in Armagnac casks. The single batch, limited edition launch was crafted from the rarest barrels and tequila aged up to 11 years for “absolute pinnacle of aged tequila,” said Richard Betts, co-founder and co-CEO of Tequila Komos.
