The illustrations seem better with every read: I keep finding new details, which is a lot of fun to point out to my little one. Real Giganotosaurus were enormous meat-eating dinosaurs, closely related to Allosaurus, that were about 12 to 13 metres long and slightly larger than Tyrannosaurus rex (though less heavy and more lightly built). In a vertical gatefold surprise, it looks like Bonehead has got crunched - but in a hilarious reveal we discover this annoying little dinosaur is safe after all. Several dinosaur types are mentioned, but nothing beyond the usual 4 that children know by the time they are three.

Yet, I found Bonehead to be the cutest of the dinosaurs, easily exciteable and obviously a little fearful. Since then he has written even stranger tales including The Pirates of Scurvy Sands, The Pirates Next Door, Gigantosaurus and The King of Space. When reviewing picture books, I firstly ignore the text and flip through the pages allowing the illustrations to talk to me. Readers will learn about the exciting adventures of a young Gigantosaurus as he grows from a youth into an adult. Jonny Duddle overheard the story of his first book The Pirate Cruncher while sailing on a square-rigger.

All in all this is a good conversation piece for teaching children what can happen when we are dishonest and how being dishonest can take away the trust others bestow upon us.

The story is a dinosaur re-telling of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and so there is a moral to the story as well. When the actual Gigantosaurus does show up, Bonehead is nearly killed and the other dinos don't seem all too concerned about him based on his supposed lies.Tiny is a triceratops and has a Triceratops mummy, so I'm not sure why thr Brachio description would state that Tiny's mum would grow bigger than a diplodocus, when a triceratops will not be bigger than a diplodocus and it also is irrelevant to the Brachio description.

The rhyming is done pretty well and kids will likely enjoy the illustration style and the dino guide at the back. It's essentially a 'boy who cried wolf' but in this case, the young monster was looking for the largest carnivore ever to roam the planet during the time of the dinosaurs. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.
