About this deal

At only 149mm wide, the EC685 is compact enough for the smallest of domestic kitchens, whilst still offering perfectly made espresso and cappuccino using either ground coffee or ESE pods. They usually come with a doser, which is overkill for home use, but there are popular mods for this grinder for making them doserless, and also for turning them into single dose grinders. Re recommending the Bambino plus, that’s not necessarily the case – it’s horses for courses, I recommend the bambino plus to people who I think it’s the right fit for. Recently updated with an adjustable steam frother, a drip tray for taller latte cups and a speedy heat-up time of 30 seconds, this innovative machine is sure to be a welcome addition to any household, especially when it comes to early weekday starts.

This filter holder is equally suitable for ground coffee and Easy Serve Espresso pods, putting you in the driver’s seat when it comes to customising your drink, while a flow stop function ensures consistent, personalised coffee every time. This I do with everything, whether I’m making a latte, flat white or just a normal black coffee in a mug. To conclude, for this kind of money, unless you go for a second-hand espresso machine, I think the DeLonghi Dedica is probably the best option at the time of writing. Some higher end machines now including some of the Sage machines, feature thermocoils, which is a bit of an improvement on the thermoblock in terms of performance and longevity, but a lot of the cheaper domestic espresso machines still use thermoblocks. One touch “cappuccino maker” or “super automatic” bean to cup machines do the entire thing for you including the milk. If you’re happy with pre-ground, and you were happy with the Dedica in the past then it sounds like that’s a good machine for you.

When it comes to coffee machines, there are many different kinds of machines, there are many different options, and the machine that may be right for you may be completely wrong for the next person to land on the same post. The DeLonghi Dedica does feature automatic preinfusion though, and this will help to some degree in this regard. Disappointed at longevityBought this machine again after my first one died after about two years… Two years later, and just out of warranty, it’s happened again. Whilst we endeavour to do our utmost to keep to the lead times shown on our product pages ultimately it is not a guarantee that these will always be met. Please be aware that the reviews published here may not be from people who have purchased the item that they are reviewing. Not only am I about to share with you my honest, warts ‘n all feedback on my experience of using the DeLonghi Dedica espresso machine, I'm also going to tell you how you can get the very best coffee from this machine with some little, simple tweaks. Effortlessly perfect coffee in minutes thanks to its Thermoblock heating system and cup warmer, whilst the manual milk frother ensures milk is perfect when preparing cappuccino. I’m still considering it today but I don’t want to spend the time doing all the mods right now, maybe I’d very slowly get there… what I want is to eventually have a setup where it just takes me a couple minutes to get GREAT coffee, and not an entire brewing ceremony every day.

Haha, I’ve certainly had the rubber pipe launched into the milk pitcher, makes you jump that does ;-), a cable tie works. Would I be better off getting capable grinder (thinking of the sage grinder pro) to go with the Dedica or upgrade the machine with the Sage Barista Express where it has a grinders part of the machine? They won't be as responsive, they'll need batteries rather than being rechargeable, and they won't be as nice to use, but they're cheap and they'll do the job.Shiny metal, matt finishing touches and the embossed logo on drip tray give even more style to the unique Dedica design. This video is a good example of what it looks like when you get it wrong, and when you get it right. The Coffeeworks started off as a little project with the support of my fellow coffee botherers (coffeeblog readers, so this is you now) which lead to The Coffeeworks, which initially started out with just four coffees, chosen for the flavours that we were all (Myself and everyone else who contributed) were looking for.

I can then press the button again and get the rest of the double, same thing happens even with a bottomless portafilter so it’s not too much coffee or too fine as I’ve run the machine wi . If all you’re getting is a fine spurter in the first part of the shot, though, you’re not doing bad at all with a 15 bar pressure machine with no OPV, so just a little bit of playing around required I think. Cheers Steve :-), I’ve used the EC685 quite a bit before and after writing this review, I’ve pulled manual shots and re-set the shot buttons, although most of the time I tend to pull shots manually. It is not preinfusing before the shot, the issue resolves for short period after descaling (orange steam light is not active) and the reset option has not resolved the issue. Take off coffee filter holder and with the mixture carefully wash the holder and its spouts as well as coffee filters.Damage in transit must be reported in writing within 24 hours of receipt or no claim will be accepted. Should those drinks I make be made with only the single shot button – always going for 30g of espresso?
