About this deal

well looking at the above, The car is showing none of the other issues, There is no black smoke at all, once reset the car is acting as normal, no hissing or pops, and the car is not lumpy or failing to start? Even though most FWD cars have the engine cross-ways and no mechanical fan on the front of the engine itself.

For the record, the glow plugs were replaced about 1,000 miles ago, and the problem has not changed a jot. I have looked in the handbook and it doesn't say anything about what to do if it flashes - it just states that it comes on for a few seconds prior to turning the engine on - a kind of preheating thing. Now when the first incident happened it was on it day 60 of a 60 day warrenty, so I'm not sure how things are going to play, all should be fine but I've already had issues with the garage, mainly due to them smashing the bumper before I picked it up and then not wanting to pay the 1000 to replace and buckling my alloy. was going to say glow plugs on 20vt i know your not meant to start the engine till the light goes out so looks like its not warming the cylinders up enough so light is staying on.

Good to know re the higher rpm, I just have to get MrsDSL trained to look at the rev counter before reaching for the key to shut the car down. Connections between quantity adjuster OB3 (N146) and VW engine control unit (N1:99, N1:106, N1:108, N1:116, N1:121) shorted or faulty. I got in the car with slight trepidation this morning wonderingg whether I would have an issue with the glow plug or not.The other week I had to borrow a fuse temporarily, and took it out of the cruise-control fuse - whilst driving, the glow-plug light flashed then. There is allegedly another EGRunit, where the take off pipe comes out from the exhaust - buried deep at the back of the engine. Another possibility is a dodgy temp sensor (coolant or fuel) as this could screw up the fuelling when the engine gets hot. Almost certainly an electrical contact issue - sometimes these can manifest with engine movement such as under hard braking/cornering. A scan would be a better place to start, or better still a visual check to see if the brake lights are working (although it could be an intermittent problem).

I checked the pipes this morning and there is no blockage in them, could feel compressed air coming out of the back exhaust box.Had the car checked out by an Audi independent and the timing belt was out and luckily no damage to engine. ul>[*]Seldom does the glow plug light illuminated during normal running actually mean a problem with the glow plugs themselves. First time in the day I drive the car it all works fine, the next time I drive it flashes the glow plug icon and shows the start stop system failure.
