About this deal

All 13 episodes from the television drama series, following the exploits of Major Richard Hannay (Robert Powell) - spy, soldier and adventurer - as he helps save the British Empire in the days before the First World War. But Europe is a couldron of political intrigue and, amongst the old Empires, a new power is rapidly making its way-a power that resents Britain's mastery of the waves: Imperial Germany.

When Hannay is entrusted with the safe-keeping of a dozen diamonds, he little knows the danger and distress they will bring. Though a mixture of studio and location filming, the entire production (with the exception of the opening and closing title footage) was shot on videotape rather than the more expensive (yet typical) practice of shooting TV drama location exteriors on 16mm film. basata sul film I 39 scalini (The Thirty Nine Steps) del 1978, a sua volta tratto dal romanzo I trentanove scalini (The Thirty-Nine Steps). The goods and services will be collected by us within 28 days of our receiving your cancellation notice and we will charge the cost of collecting the goods or services, and will deduct this from any sum owed by us to you. Hannah is a pleasant, low-key thriller series set in 1912 or so, with a good sense of period and a very engaging performance by Robert Powell. On 15 January 2008, the show made its US Broadway premiere at the American Airlines Theatre; it transferred to the Cort Theatre on 29 April 2008 and then moved to the Helen Hayes Theatre on 21 January 2009, where it ended its run on 10 January 2010. In Voyage into Fear Hannay is accosted in an art gallery by a young girl who insists that there is a dangerous man who is trying to kidnap her. But this TV series is excellent, and all based loosely around John Buchanan's `Hannay' character from his classic 1916 espionage book `The thirty-nine steps', which has never been out of print.

Robert Powell followed up his stirring performance as Hannay in the 70s version of '39 Steps' with this 80s TV series featuring the same character. OK the series seems oddly set-bound, even when outside on location, but picture quality and sound is quite good on the small screen.Standfast, as well as a number of other such heroic characters, including Beau Geste, Bulldog Drummond and James Bond. Hannay è una serie televisiva britannica in 13 episodi trasmessi per la prima volta nel corso di 2 stagioni dal 1988 al 1989. This series followed on from Robert Powell's stirring performance as Richard Hannay in the 1978 film `The thirty-nine steps" - sadly not included, but essential viewing with this series and probably best viewed first (although this TV spin-off series is set in 1912, before events in 'The thirty-nine steps').

Robert Powell is a very able actor and he contributed to the success of the 1978 production of "The 39 Steps". On the ship carrying him back to Britain Hannay encounters the Earl of Haslemere (David Waller) and the earl’s daughter, the Lady Anne. Audiences flocked to the cinema to see Charlie Chaplin, the great Hollywood star of the silent movies. The only person who comes to my mind is Ralph Fiennes, but even he would have to pull out the stops to better Powell who is excellent in the role.

However, in 1920 or 1921, Hannay again finds himself in an adventure, this time with his wife's help unravelling a kidnapping mystery in The Three Hostages. The family settles in Mary's old home in the Cotswolds, Fosse Manor, Oxfordshire and Hannay (now a KCB) finds peace and enjoyment as a farmer. Not too many of the stories are straightforward espionage tales, and settings range from the Highlands to the "hellish" fens to an Orient Express type train. His plans to settle down are dashed, however, when the naval arms race between Britain and Imperial Germany enters a dangerous new phase and his ingenuity is stretched to its limit by the ever-inventive schemes of his ruthless arch-enemy, Count Otto von Schwabing. As revealed through the various novels, Richard Hannay was born in Scotland about 1877; [8] his father was Scottish and had German business partners.
