About this deal

They will fit comfortably in a backpack but are too cumbersome for pockets even larger jacket pockets. Every now and then, I’ll come across the article summarizing your review and thoughts on the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, which is a well thought out and articulate review by the way. With that said, if you get them for tracking and the perceived low-end response proves to be balanced for you, HD 280 Pro’s can come in handy for some production/mixing on the go. The worst part is that they’re actually marketed that way, which has almost become a meme at this point.

They seem to isolate outside noise even better than the industrial foam earplugs I use for sleeping. The ear cups fold flat, and they also collapse up into the headband, allowing you to either fold them traditionally or "football style. Leisuretec are Trade Distributors of Professional and Commercial Audio, Lighting, Video, Special Effects and Ancillary. While I like how the bass on the 280’s are not muddy in addition to being neutral, there are times where it’s somewhat lacking. Designed to exceed the demands of the professional environment, the HD 280 Pro boasts extremely robust construction combined with the sound quality, modular design and aggressive noise isolation that is necessary in the field.Comfort here is about average, maybe slightly below due to them clamping rather tight on your melon. It becomes a huge inconvenience, and to be quite honest I haven’t ever worn this outside of my home, though you may. The M50X is more aggressive in the lows and the upper mids, with that trademark Audio-Technica strident/airy quality.

When evaluating the frequency response score with the Average calibration profile, the pair to pair consistency of the given model is taken into account – if we have measured a considerable frequency response inconsistency among multiple pairs of the given model, the score drops, as the profile loses accuracy. Sennheiser desinged these to exceed professional requirements, with an extremely robust construction, excellent isolation and great sound quality. Even though I'm a freelancer now, PCMag has been my home for well over a decade, and audio gear reviews are still my primary focus.I'm one of the few that doesn't think the M50X feels bad, but the HD280 Pro is an undeniable step up. They easily beat my "cost effective" bookshelf speakers- Polk Tsi100, Cerwin Vega XD3, Insignia bass reflex, JBL Control One and a few others when am not using them for nearfield listening where the sparkly shine really stands out and can only be matched by the Audio Technica Ath AD700 or KRK KNS 8400.

The faux leather cup material also sweats a bit and you’ll be making semi-frequent adjustments over long listening sessions. The only criticism I have is that the coiled cable is a little on the heavier side, and it had a couple of kinks due to the way it was packaged. They fit so lightly that one could easily forget that one was wearing them, but they did not stay put all that well whenever I bent down to pick something up off the ground. If you come across another variant of these headphones, please let us know in the discussion section below and we'll update our review. Claimed as the most significant closed, around-the-ear headphones to be introduced in recent memory, the HD 280 features a robust construction combined with excellent sound quality that exceeds professional demand. And to me--someone without an awful lot of head time in high end cans--these sound quite good for mixing applications as well. The high attenuation of external noise (32dB) makes these particularly suitable for use in high noise environments.
