I’m putting this as a big CON because so many people talk about its breathability – without realizing that some parents (including myself as a first time parent! You can use a tight fitted sheet and nothing else in the crib (no stuffed animals, blankets, bumpers, pillows, etc. Newton does not recommend using a traditional mattress protector over their mattresses as this would hinder the breathability of the mattress (most traditional waterproof covers do reduce breathability).
