As I was reading through your comment, I too was thinking though about the Bamix and how easy the wee blades are. The problem is that although they say it can puree and mash it cannot as this attachment is not included. It blitzed through a variety of ingredients swiftly and with ease, including tinned chickpeas when making hummus and cooked root vegetables, two types of food that less powerful blenders can struggle with. After 30 seconds of blending our pesto was by far the smoothest of the three we made, with a true sauce-like consistency and no trace of large chunks of garlic or pine nuts. We made a very large batch of pea soup and distributed this evenly amongst the blenders, using the blending cup that came included with each.

If you prefer Braun to kitchenAid I can dig out the models that would work for you and let you know tomorrow. Our first queries with Braun last year led us to believe we could add an accessory in to do just that.
