I also have the vintage EDT and I personally prefer the EDT, it has a lot more jasmine, if you didn't smell the EDT you wouldn't know that they were from the same line. Obviously reformulated to meet IFRA rules, cut costs and/or because it is no longer a Patou fragrance. But I’m glad I didn’t put any effort into finding a vintage version—the modern formulation really didn’t seem noticeably different to me. I'm not sure what it is about it, there's just something entirely magical about it - the aldehydes just do something to me. then also] Arpège, Calèche, Ivoire, Narcisse Noire, Shalimar, Bandit, Miss Dior, Cabochard and those we forgot.

My memories as a teenager were sneaking into her room when she went out and applying one single drop to my wrist - it was like sinking into a giant red rose.My skin does not love this scent, and while the dry down is tolerable, that overripe catbox note pretty much ruins it for me. He received the prestigious Dé d'Or de la Couture award in 1986 for his work, before the fashion house ceased its activity in 1987 and Lacroix founded his eponymous house within the LVMH group. Like Cinnamonpeelerswife, I find that Joy puts me in mind of a pristine glamor and of the opera (though for me there's nothing dated about it). Following his lead, the house has seen some of the greatest names of fashion at its helm: Karl Lagerfeld, Michel Goma, and under his direction, Jean Paul Gaultier made his debut there, followed by Angelo Tarlazzi and Christian Lacroix.

She's experienced a lot, knows even more and she is simply happy and at peace to be in a place she is now. But it ended quickly - the moment I stopped tripping over the opening and went to check out if I am still in love with Serge Lutes A La Nuit, it settled down into mellow rosey skin scent, and 'vintage-y' (in a bad way) ylang started to rear its ugly head. I will not be wearing this to the flower club meeting - rather - just keep it in my "scent library" .

He says that he discerns a rubbery note, which might be the "doll's head" element that others have noticed. fun that is: sharpen your well lacquered nails: with le vernis des ongles Dior 220 volts, future beige (I had them in the 70s !

Dries down to a rosy indolic sandalwood after a surprisingly short time… but then I don’t know who could spend all day in a haze of such flamboyant rose. Clearing out some papers last week I found a couple of folded sheets of paper that for god knows what reason I printed out years ago. if progress means we have to loose the precious with time, let the good old days forever be remembered in a vintage bottle.I bought Joy hoping I’d like it a lot more than the other popular but less expensive florals I wore at that time. After about an hour it's just a skin scent on me, but a lovely one: still floral but somehow also an accord of fine Darjeeling tea.

I was given this perfume in 1969 by my fiancée who spent a fortune (then) on it and fell in love with it. Jean Patou shared romances with Louise Brooks and members of the European aristocracy but never married anyone. After waiting nearly an hour I again smelled my wrist and was overwhelmed with the fragrance of Rose Glycerin soaps my Mother used in the 60's. Joy is the only Patou perfume, as far as I know, and I've been a Patou fan for years, that it is not intended for a strong woman, maybe because it was designed until the brand revolt and until it starts creating just for for "revolutionary" women. After the shock of his passing, Madeleine Patou, his sister, and Raymond Barbas, her husband, took over the reins of the house.I don't wear it too often, but it fullfills every desire I could ever have from a fragrance (at this current time). Karl Lagerfeld joined the fashion house as head designer in 1958, where he created the memorable long flowing dresses inspired by the 1930s, in homage to the founder. However, when she settles down a bit and the somewhat indolic jasmine and rose come out to play, the civet grounds it all in a sexy, sophisticated manner and I just can't get enough of it. It was a floral but compared to the powerful bright floral scents of the 80’s it was so subtle, it was almost invisible.
