Description

The lovely two-colour artwork is filled with original and fun details, and the text has plenty of wry observations for parents to enjoy that children may overlook. This book is absolutely perfect for able young readers (6-8 years) looking for their first step into longer chapter books. Fighting for those that can't stick up for themselves, whilst being cheeky and having a lot of fun along the way she gives you a good laugh and the odd smirk.

Also available are the second and third books in the series, Bad Nana 2: All the Fun of the Fair and Bad Nana 3: That’s Snow Business. Henn’s decision to use a fabulous pink neon colour to dominate her lively illustrations fits in perfectly with the content of the stories – Bad Nana’s face when she gets angry, the park keeper’s uniform and Liberace the cat – it works brilliantly. It's still great for some giggles, especially if this book was read by a grandparent to their grandchild.

In this vibrant new illustrated series by Sophy Henn, readers are introduced to Jeanie and her very large family, including a rather naughty nanny.I kept going for another few pages, buoyed by the fun writing, but then I decided that I couldn't keep hurting my brain this way. The kid is trying to tell you about their grandma and while the author is trying to assume the voice of the child perhaps they try a little too hard to ramble in about nothing. However, it turns out that Bad Nana is just the right sort of helper to have when they encounter an angry museum man. One day at their favorite park, they found themselves and other park goers unhappy by the many rules placed around the park by the new park keeper.

Park Life' involves Bad Nana behaving mischievously towards the miserable park keeper who is ruining everyone's fun at the park. Jeanie is seven-and three-quarters years old and lives with her mum and dad and annoying little brother; she also has three nanas, the best one being Bad Nana. This book is absolutely perfect for confident readers looking for their first step into longer books, or as a class or bedtime read for Y2. They are certain their fun will come to an end when the house is sold - but their new neighbour is full of surprises.

While the third of the three stories could have been shorter, this is a charming and funny book which concludes with some moving life lessons and a delightful final image. For all ebook purchases, you will be prompted to create an account or login with your existing HarperCollins username and password. Her subsequent titles have gone on to great success, and Sophy was chosen as the World Book Day illustrator in 2015. We meet her three best friends (although, Marcy is sometimes THE best friend) and her annoying younger brother, Jack. Jeanie lives with her mum, dad and a thing that makes lots of whiny sounds and answers to the name of Jack.
