I drink a lot of water on a good day — as a fitness editor and runner, I’m pretty active, but until testing this bottle, my water intake hasn’t ever been something I’ve actively tracked (except for when I drank a gallon of water a day for a month). That said, as they are single-use patches, it would be unfair to assume consumers would be using these every time they workout.

During testing, it didn’t take long for the competitive athlete in me to start trying to beat the light on the top of the bottle. We do not recommend reusing our bottles because they cannot be properly sterilized or washing in a hot water cycle of a dishwasher as the plastic may distort and/or shrink. Out of the box, the Gatorade bottle looks like the rest of the Gx bottles in the brand’s line-up, but this one is slightly different.Once you’ve finished a workout, the patch can be scanned in the Gx app, and will tell you your sweat rate, and the sodium concentration of your sweat.

ImpacX, an Israeli tech company, worked on the sensors and processors, while manufacturers in Tennessee and China helped dial in the molded details and complex internal structure.

This was so crazy to me because ive always been a huge fan of Gatorade and drink one almost every day!Of course, the Smart Gx Bottle isn’t Gatorade’s first product that strives to bring athlete-level tech to the masses.
