It's Not a Diet concludes with a two-week reset programme to put Davinia's advice into action easily and achievably. He gives facts without losing me in the science, his analogies are so clear, and there is not an excess of boring examples - it’s such a great balance of info. Started good and I thought it was interesting but the middle part of this book should of been kept for his memoirs. Honest, unapologetic and outspoken, yet erudite, authentic and endlessly passionate about exposing the toxic myths within diet culture, and committed to helping people to reach their goals and make positive change for good. You listen and listen to so much rambling you switch off and fail to acknowledge any parts of the audio that may actually be of interest. She couldn't walk around the block, let alone go for a run or do a HIIT class, and she struggled to keep up with her young sons. Like many people, I find his rants on social media entertaining because he gets so worked up about what other people are telling him to do. Learn how to keep weight off and live your best life through a series of health tricks from cold showers, to MCT oil, to ancestral eating. Davinia's heavily documented party lifestyle led to a dependency on alcohol, post-natal depression and a struggle to regain her pre-baby body after four children. Found it hilarious that the mantra is to 'count chemicals, not calories', yet the suggested list of chemical sounding supplements to add to your diet would literally take you all your time, sourcing, planning and assessing.magazineWhy stress causes weight gain How fasting makes you less hungry Why sunflower oil is unhealthy How cold showers can cut your carb cravings'If I could give you one bit of advice right now, it would be to take all the energy you're putting into fad diets and put it into becoming the most genuinely healthy version of you. I love Davinia's honesty and can really relate to the culture for young women in the 90's and how adopting new habits can, hopefully, mitigate some of those bad choices taken as a younger woman! She couldn't walk around the block, let alone go for a run or do an exercise class, and she struggled to keep up with her four young sons. If you want a list of random vitamins, pills, ingredients and expensive therapies to add to your life then maybe you'll enjoy it.

Then a chapter dedicated to the author's rather unremarkable life story, and currently running through a chapter on why the different main stream diets don't work.Everything Davinia says makes sense and I just don't understand how as a society we don't know this stuff, it's shocking and really no wonder we have the level of health problems in this country. The best thing I’ve learned from James is the balance between training and life so I can enjoy both while chasing my goals.

It’s Not a Diet concludes with a two-week reset programme to put Davinia’s advice into action easily and achievably. Davinia has a direct and no-nonsense approach to communicating her take on food, exercise and nutrition which is refreshing and whether or not the regime she has created is for everyone, some of the information around hormones and cycles in particular will be interesting and useful for many. A really interesting read about the authors own experiences with addiction and depression and the steps they found helpful backed up by studies/science.
