Some really upsetting things happen, but Johnson is always sure to follow them up with a heart-warming story of something turning out perfectly.Without a doubt in my mind if any young kids read this they would fully enjoy this heart felt story. Though he said Pfeiffer's acting made the film "fairly entertaining", Terrence Rafferty of The New Yorker criticized the film's screenplay and the sentimental ending, which he said gives Pfeiffer's character an unnecessary halo. During the government evaluation of 10 similar pilot programs, LouAnne's group was rated first in academic achievement, increased self-esteem, and student retention.

I admired the way that Miss Johnson exposed her students to the work of Shakespeare, the field trip that she took some of her students on to Alcatraz, the way that she connected to parents through letters and home visits, the positive attitude she maintained, the respect she showed for her students (for the most part), and the incredible amount of hard work and commitment she displayed as an educator.

There, she has struggled to reach and teach a group of teenagers, many from immigrant families, who often revel in nonachievment and accept their roles as failures.

To me, it is very interesting reading a story based on troubled students in high school who find a way to improve themselves for the greater good. Tell that to all the people out there who’ve been raped or kidnapped or have lost a loved one to cold-blooded murder.

The dumb excuse for a man would verbally abuse kids, see Emilio and Emilio’s girlfriend walking down the hallway, and FLIRT WITH HER. The teacher no longer cares if anyone learns, and the belligerent ones no longer have to try to care. Dangerous Minds is a book about a teacher on a mission to not only better her students’ grades but their lives as well. If there were more teachers who were able to do what LouAnne Johnson did, how many more children would be saved from the bleak life of the streets?

Her commitment to her students leads her to visit their homes and neighborhoods, meet their families, and become somewhat involved in their personal lives, in an effort to show them how much she cares. But if you truly respect and accept other people as they are, and your motivation is to encourage them to develop their talents and skills to pursue whatever goals THEY have set (or encourage them to set goals if they have none), then they will be interested in what you have to say.
