Description

The key characteristic of Dimple is how light and understated it is. The nose is floral and toffee and caramel sweet, underscored by a dry woody note. The flavor has a medium-bodied, butterscotch and toffee character, with a light, but still spicy pepper note and a tinge of dry wood. The flavor unfolds off the pepper, leaving a restrained afterglow with light warmth. While the brand disappeared in the UK (until the advent of Haig Club), Dimple was stilling selling over a million cases by the millennium when its key markets were South Korea, Germany, Greece and the US. It’s all makey-up marketing stuff and I can think of no reason at all why it should have been commemorated in the 1980’s other than a Whiskey Marketing executive thought it was a good idea at the time. Haig & Haig was my Dad’s favorite scotch. He lived to the ripe old age of 92 and I remember going through items in his room with

By 1939 the combination of the Dimple and Gold Label brand extensions made Haig the top-selling Scotch in the UK, while Dimple Pinch had recovered its pre-Prohibition sales in the States. Generally speaking there are three types of Haig Whisky. Haig Gold Blended Whisky is in a normal shaped bottle whereas Haig Dimple and it’s American Market sister Haig Pinch are in the three sided bottles with dimples or dents in each of the three faces. Guide to Aging HaigWilliam Grant and his nine children built the Glenfiddich Distillery and opened it on the 25th December 1887. Glenfiddich whiskey rapidly evolved into a well-respected and highly sought-after whiskey. Since 2000, the Glenfiddich range has received more awards than any other whiskey. Overall: This starts very strong, flush with classic sherry aromas and dense candy-like caramels but then appears confused on the tongue and downright absent on the finish. In other words, it promises much to the nose but fails to deliver. On the plus side, there are no detectable off-notes due to the grain whisky component (nor should there be, at 15 years) and the dram is very well-integrated. sid-shop.com можете да закупите както Дъмпел, така и други видове смесен или едномалцов алкохол, който да консумирате с наслада или да подарите на близък. Haig and Haig was established in 1888 by Mr. John Alicius Haig who was a brother of Hugh Veitch Haig, the first chairman of John Haig and Co. John Haig and Co. was the name given to the Haig Whisky “Family” business after it was floated as a limited company registered in Edinburgh in 1894.

In the post, Cranston and Aaron describe themselves as "two guys on a quest"—hence the name Dos Hombres—to find a truly special mezcal. With this one, they said, "We are crazy about the taste, the aroma, and the versatility of this smokey, age-old alcohol." Their first bottle is called Espadin (after the type of agave most commonly used for mezcal), with hints of apple, mango, local Oaxacan fruits, wood, and, of course, smoke. Haig Dimple was sold in the UK market and a slightly different variant Haig Pinch was sold on the US market. For some newer entrants to the whisky industry, your only exposure to Haig might be from the marketing debacle a few years ago with Haig Club, a wildly overpriced blend sold in a bottle (and with marketing to match) indistinguishable from a bottle of perfume. The whisky itself should be quite nice as it is a blend of Scotch Malt and Single Grain whiskies, probably from Glenkichnie, Linkwood and Camoronbridge Distillerys.

Sometimes, things don’t go your way. Sometimes—SPOILER ALERT—you're the subject of a nationwide manhunt, you've fled to frosty New Hampshire, and you're about to intentionally reveal your location to your family and law enforcement officials. It's times like these that you’d probably turn to a glass of whiskey. And if you’re Walter White on Breaking Bad, you’d probably make it Dimple Pinch, neat. William Grant and Sons are the largest privately owned whiskey producer in Scotland and impressively, it is the third-largest whiskey producer on the planet. Monkey Shoulder is expertly blended using premium single malt from three iconic Speyside Distilleries in Dufftown, United Kingdom. The cap is a gold-coloured screw-on plastic cap. There is a paper strip seal over the top of the cap down each side extending onto the bottle itself. “Dimple” is printed on the strip both sides of the cap. Before we proceed much further, I must warn that a 15 year-old bottle of Haig Dimple formerly contained scotch at 43% ABV, while most retailers are now carrying a 40% ABV presentation. I’d like to blame inflation, although I think the transition happened before that, apparently with little fanfare. My sample was bottled before this particular faux pax, so this review applies to older 43% ABV presentations of Haig Dimple.

The Color

Yeast: William Grant and Sons use liquid yeast, but the exact strain is a closely guarded secret. This yeast is referred to as a Speyside yeast and is utilized in all three Speyside distilleries. What’s in a Name Haig Dimple, a more expensive blend with "a heavier malt influence of whiskies from Glenkinchie and Linkwood", labelled as 15 years old, in the dimpled, three-sided bottle. Haig ( / h eɪ ɡ/) is a brand of Scotch whisky, produced by Diageo in Scotland. It was originally manufactured by John Haig & Co Ltd. since the early 1720s. The coins on the bottles show the cross of St Andrew for Scotland and the Unicorn of England surmounted by a mish mash of the “United Kingdom” Royal coat of arms (Lion and Unicorn) with the crosses of St George for England and St Andrew for Scotland.

Kininvie was the third distillery opened by the company in 1990 and produces premium single malt whiskey. Most of the whiskey produced by this distillery is used as a blend to create William Grant and Sons blended whiskeys. The most popular William Grant and Sons blended whiskey are Clan MacGregor. Clan Macgregor is an average blended whiskey with a high percentage of grain whiskey. Additional William Grant and Sons Products Value wise? At least €200 to €300 in the good condition that yours seems to be in. However, I have seen these change hands at auction for up to €1,000 4 or 5 years ago. It’s all about meeting the right buyer at the right time. If it was mine, I would not let it go for less than €500. As you will see from my other posts here, a dealer will only offer you 25% to 30% of the selling price. If you want to sell it, put it up on e-Bay etc. for the best results. These were the beginnings of a great distilling dynasty for the Haigs and Steins, though it was John Haig, John’s grandson, who secured his family’s name in Scotch whisky legend in 1824 with the build of Cameronbridge distillery in Fife, and the founding of John Haig & Co. In 1751 Robert’s great, great grandson, John Haig, married Margaret Stein and this union really cemented the family’s connection with Scotch whisky. The Stein family owned distilleries at Kilbagie and Kennetpans near Alloa in the Lowlands. When John Haig died suddenly in 1773, his father-in-law took his five sons on as apprentices at Kilbagie. At this time Kilbagie was well on its way to becoming the largest distillery in Scotland and it was here that the Haigs learned the art of distillation and whisky making. Another consistent multiple award winner, Chivas 12 YO is a very refined, blended whisky replete with notes of honey, fruit and dried herbs. Exceptionally rich and creamy it offers a complex and nuanced array of aromas and flavors. An exceptional value for the price. My dad loved his Dimple whisky and only poured a glass on special occasions. Remember, that was the 80’s in South Africa, so the whisky variety was minimal. It is not a bad whisky, but I found it a bit forgettable. It starts delicate but gets better on sip 2 or 3. More flavour comes to the front after a few drops of water. I would’ve recommend Glenlivet 12, my actual first dram, but that spicy finish will confuse most beginners. They’ll probably be getting used to the alcohol and the bite of the finish might be too much.
