Another standout feature on the Impact LX25+ are the transpose buttons. While most MIDI keyboards allow you to change octaves to change the pitch of the notes, the Impact LX25+ will allow you to transpose the keys to shift the notes up or down. This is the perfect tool for someone who doesn't know a lot of music theory. A 30mm faders and 8 pots are at the center of the Impact LX25+ control panel. Each control is fully programmable to send any MIDI CC message for use with hardware or software MIDI products. Used with Nektar DAW integration, the controls take on a life of their own, providing flexible pre-mapped DAW control giving you the best of both worlds. Control settings can be stored in any of the 5 Impact LX25+ presets for recall at any time. And if you switch Null on, any parameter values are stored when you change presets so you avoid parameter jumping. Keys are full-sized, but not weighted, or even semi-weighted, so it’s going to be harder to learn to play the piano. I think this is a smart move from Nektar. Let’s be honest, people often don’t use the software that comes with controllers unless they are well-known applications or plugins. The fact that you don’t need to install additional software to configure it to your DAW is also a major point.
Press mixer and the 8 Impact LX25+ pots are assigned to control 8 channels of your DAWs mixer. The alternate Bank up/down function moves control assignments to the next or previous group of 8 channels. Press the [Mixer] button and they switch to control pan. Alesis is one of my personal favourite budget MIDI controller manufacturers out there. Their products are high-quality and reliable. The two MIDI keyboards, Alesis V25 and Impact LX25+, are very similar in both price and features, with a few noticeable differences. You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail. A common workflow gives access to many of the functions you are most likely to need when recording and performing with your Impact LX25+. Impact LX25+ DAW integration currently supports Cubase, Digital Performer, FL Studio, Garageband, Logic, Nuendo, Reaper, Reason, Sonar and Studio One. Buttons and controls are labeled so you don't have to remember how they are assigned. That’s why Impact LX25+ is a breeze to use but with enough extra features under the hood to challenge even the most experienced power user. Going into this, I didn’t want my music to just be randomly pressing keys to make melodies. This is where the LX25+ was useful. Make sure Reaper is already installed on your computer. If not, please install Reaper first and open it at least once, before running the installer for Nektar DAW integration software.
NEKTAR DAW INTEGRATION
It is important to only enable port 1 in the MIDI Devices window. If multiple ports are enabled Impact will not function correctly. Make sure your setup mirrors that of Image 2 and 6. In my personal opinion and my personal use, the Nektar Impact LX25+ is the best 25-key MIDI controller you can buy for your money. All these specs for its price point make it a great MIDI controller for beginners, and a valuable tool for the collection of advanced producers/musicians. Cons This seamless integration also works with the control center and navigation. Even more impressively, my pad presets transferred to every DAW I used. If you don’t have any musical training, you’ll have a hard time making melodies that actually sound good. While playing music may seem like art where you can bend the rules anyway you want, that’s not entirely true. Hitting random keys won’t get you anywhere – you’ll have to learn music theory fundamentals and face a fair share of trial and error before you’ll get better.
