Description

Dr. Paul Krammer, a brilliant physicist, travels with his team to the days of WW2 and helps Germany win the war. Next, he leads the Germans and conquers America. In the days of the present, New York is a wasteland, with mutant creatures that feed on each other roaming the streets.

P.S.: poslednych 25% som precital asi za hodinu, ako sialeny v autobuse, hltal som to kazde slovo, mozno len druhe, lebo som potreboval vediet ako to dopadne! I have a few other criticisms of the book; If I have to hear what a "smart lad" Liam is one more time, I might have to visit the writer. What is it with Liam's Irish accent? None of them miss anyone from their old life! Why wouldn't a agency such as this be prepared for changes in their own timeline. Such things as fuel and internal power might help. Food and water also. This part just felt too convenient. This time the period of history that needs to be corrected from the interference of others messing with history is the Roman rule of one of the more unstable emperors, none other than Caligula himself. The whole ordeal with Bob Junior being female. All the characters had such a sexist response to the situation. It was baffling. There is no reason the AI even needed to be assigned a human gender in the first place but the fact that the characters legitimately believed it would less capable than Bob was gross and sexist. I cannot believe that they went so far as to consider not sending Bob Junior on the mission at all. As if it would literally be better to have Liam without support than with an AI in a female-shaped body. 🙄

What do three random strangers have in common? Well imagine this, your having a normal day and then you are told by a complete stranger your about to die. You have a choice, either stay and face death or be pulled out from the situation you find yourself in and become a member of the Timeriders. Or is that Time Tunnel? To me, this does read like a lazy rip-off from the old TV series. There is even a episode similar to this novel. This book comes with everything the previous books had - great action scenes, brilliant characters, answered questions and then more questions created, and a vivid depiction of the historical era that the tram find themselves in. I must confess I have never been a fan of books set in Ancient Rome (in fact, I rarely read any historical fiction set before Tudor times), but I found that Alex Scarrow's descriptions of the horrors of Rome under Caligula completely absorbing, and written so well that I found it very easy to picture the sights, smells and sounds in my mind. In this book Caligula is even nastier than history portrayed him, and so we are treated to descriptions of torture and violence that will have teen boys gagging for more. Liam goes to investigate, but when Maddy and Sal attempt to flee a kill-squad sent to hunt down their field office, all of the TimeRiders become trapped in the Roman past. If you know anything about Caligula you can only imagine what he would do if he had access to not just modern - by our terms - but future technology. Well that's what's at the core of this novel and, without giving anything away, I can honestly say that it doesn't end well. aku udah beli buku keduanya kapan tau, soalnya murah karena lagi diskon eh obral ketang, soalnya juga buku-buku awal di serial ini udah susah banget dicari, soalnya juga katanya ini bagus, covernya juga badai, jadi kenapa enggak? sebenernya aku baca buku pertama ini versi bahasa inggrisnya. dan yaampun, aku gabakalan nyangka banget aku bakal bilang kalau buku ini bosenin parah mungkin karena aku ga klik dengan gaya penceritaannya yang gitu deh. aku ga suka banget baca info dumb di awal chapter pake teknik ngobrol, alias, tokoh bertanya, tokoh yang lebih tahu menjawab secara detailll tapi kesannya tuh ga ngalirrrr, jadi kayak kaku gituloh, keliatan banget disettingnya (?) pokonya dari awal aku udah ga klik aja. apalagi povnya ganti-ganti dan kita juga dapet pov si jahatnya! kalo ini film kayaknya aku bakalan asik-asik aja ngikutinnya. tapi ini aku enggak sama sekali, aku bosen parah, aku bahkan skimmed bagian-bagian yang kurasa gapenting, penting amat. apalagi ditambah aku belum konek sama tokoh-tokohnya, jadi aku gapeduli gituloh tokohnya ngapain aja :(

Alex Scarrow is a World Book Day 2013 author with TimeRiders: The Nearly Girl on the WBD Movellas app. Read more DetailsKlady: Cestovanie v case je vskutku narocne, nieze len zavriem oci a letim a potom ma zrazu nieco vtihane spat, nie, treba vela energie, spustu dohadovania, a nie len ti zli menia cas, ale aj ti dobri, tym ze sa niekde zjavia, nieco spravia zmenia cas. Alternativnu historiu ma ujo perfektne premyslenu, a samozrejme mame radi Boba! Also, the fact that Liam was even slightly attracted to Junior Bob's new body was gross. Why do we need to sexualise AIs like this?

Another great installment in the time traveling series, that once more manages to include a brilliant main plot, great factual historical (and new historical) detail, whist continuing the overall story arc of the series, as to just who is the mysterious Foster who recruited our heroes, and just what is the Agency they work for.. I think that if I allowed my children to read this, they would be insulted that I would think this is a good book for them to read.

The Time Riders Series in Order (9 Books)

Along with being incredibly creative and attuned to the scientific details of the story, Alex Scarrow is a magnificent writer. Some of the scenes were brilliantly done, such as the ones from Broken Claw's perspective (I imagine it must be difficult to get inside the mind of a primitive lizardy caveman creature!), and the scene where he showed the progression of time and how certain objects made it from the Cretaceous Era to the present. Scenes like those make this book even more unique than it already is, and also made me think about time and evolution and all that fun stuff. So, the concept is great, and the story itself is pretty good- although I will stress, it gets very dark at times. There's a great deal of death, graphically described, and some really cringey moments of destruction and horror. Without spoilers, one character gets treated to an absolutely nightmarish end (although time travel rectifies this).

Many sci-fi time-traveling books deal with the idea that messing with time is a bad idea that usually makes things worse than they are. This book takes that one step further by creating an agency of time riders to make sure that does not happen. The world of Time Riders is bleak. The world is dying, overpopulated, underwater. But somehow hope is never completely dead. Time must run its course, and it is up to three teenagers (along with their robot support unit, Bob) to make sure the timeline is kept intact. To this end, Maddy, Liam and Sal are all game to face whatever challenges come their way. They deal with extraordinary hardship, all the while never quite understanding just who it is they are working for. There are mysteries that unravel throughout the course of the series and this edition moves that along nicely. Time Riders The Infinity Cage. All the other eight books I have listened to for a while and gone longer walks than normal, cleaned more than I usually did, worked in the garden for longer moments, all to listen as long as possible. But with this book, the last of the series, I've pulled it off. I haven't always listened when I've been on a walk or done any of the above. Just because I knew that with this book the series was over and I would feel empty and sad afterwards. But oh so wrong I was. Tonight I finished the last book. Instead of feeling sad that the book series was over, I lay with a wide smile and just enjoyed the perfect ending to a book. It can't be more perfect than this.
