So the hard question is this: if looks and feel are really the most important criteria for selecting a putter, and if putting success has little to do with the club and virtually everything to do with the golfer, and if tech putters (and boutique putters, for that matter) are too damned expensive…. Golfing with Ned was a trip because I swear Ned was the inspiration for that “Putt It” video. Ned looked at chips, pitches and bump-and-run shots the way a vegan looks at a Porterhouse – disgust laced with a little fear. No lie – I saw Ned putt from a good 35 yards off the green once. He didn’t get up and down, but he didn’t skull his pitch over the green and into a trap, either. The amount of control that players had with the Wilson Staff Infinite and the comfort they had at setup were both significant positives. Elevate your short game to new heights with Wilson Putters – the embodiment of precision, balance, and innovation on the green. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, these putters are designed to enhance your feel, control, and overall putting performance.

Many golfers still hold these to be self-evident truths, completely disregarding data that suggests otherwise. And many more will say the putter itself doesn’t matter because putting success lies solely with the person holding the putter, which essentially creates a circulator argument feeding the fundamentally flawed assertion listed above. Company number: 1394141; Registered office: Media House, Peterborough Business Park, Lynch Wood, Peterborough PE2 6EA and H Bauer Publishing, Wilson Putters are the result of a deep understanding of the art and science of putting. With a variety of designs catering to different putting styles, these putters offer a range of alignment aids and face-balanced options to suit your preferences. The soft yet responsive feel at impact ensures consistent distance control and accuracy on every putt.Engineered with advanced technology, Wilson Putters are designed to optimize roll and forgiveness, even on mishits. The perfect weight distribution and precise face milling create a harmonious blend of stability and touch, allowing you to confidently approach every putt. Despite the data MyGolfSpy regularly bombards you with, and despite proven groove technology in putters from PING, Evnroll, and others, plenty of golfers still insist on one fundamentally flawed assertion and one value judgment:

Looks/feel are the most important criteria for selecting a putter. Tech matters less, because you have to love the look and feel. This dedication to detail and excellence can be seen throughout the brand’s equipment lines including their extensive and reasonably priced range of golf putters. Expertly crafted for the golfer looking to improve alignment and ball positioning, Wilson Staff golf putters focus on promoting more consistent stroke play. By offering a comprehensive mix of mallet and blade putters, the brand has tried to ensure there is a club for every player regardless of age or ability. They even offer a number of superior models specifically engineered for ladies. It’s not the perfect putter, though. On top of the head, there’s a lot going on, which can be a bit distracting. What’s more, the three sightlines – which don’t provide the most premium aesthetic – will divide opinion.

Wilson Golf extended its award-winning Infinite putter line-up with the launch of the Buckingham mallet.

The Wilson Infinite Putter line includes eight head shapes, from classic to modern, all with refined detailing and counter-balanced technology for total control on the green. Inspired by the company’s headquarters in Chicago, each putter is named after a local landmark or neighborhood and features a dark matte finish to reduce glare and accentuate sight lines. The alignment lines were either loved or hated. Some testers found the lines helpful on shorter putts while others found them distracting but, based on performance from five feet, something good is happening with those lines. The putter continues the tradition of being named after landmarks and neighbourhoods in the brand’s home city of Chicago. I used to work with a guy named Ned. Ned’s been retired for a while, but he had this down-home, folksy way of letting you know he’d been there and done that, especially if you hadn’t.

The most impressive feature of the putter is the smoothness of the tempo it facilitates. The weight of the putter head really helps produce a pendulum-like motion and the low point is consistent from green to green. The head has also been treated with an anti-glare finish, which repels the sun and helps emphasize the three white sightlines on the flange that aid with alignment.

The Infinite range of putters all feature a double milled face, counterbalanced grips for added control, and a dark ain’t-glare finish. Performance from 20 feet is essential, not just for making one-putts, but for ensuring three-putts are off the table. The Wilson Staff Infinite beat out all other mallet putters in 2022 with its performance from 20 feet. This is no easy task and something that golfers who struggle with longer putts should consider. For over a century Wilson Staff has been at the forefront of golf technology and design, constantly evolving their manufacturing techniques to bring their loyal customer base the best in terms of performance and style. Over the past three years of Most Wanted Testing, Wilson’s Infinites had, shall we say, meh to less-than- meh performance, but still finished ahead of far pricier models from Scotty, TaylorMade, and Bettinardi. Regardless of performance, however, a three-year product cycle might suggest that putters remain a bit of an afterthought for Wilson. Nevertheless, the Infinites are getting a makeover. Good value for money putters can be tough to find nowadays, but we like highlighting decent budget buys, as we completely understand not everyone wants to blow several hundred pounds on a new putter. Wilson’s Infinite is a family that’s stood out for a few years now.

The feel off the double-milled face is also pleasant. It’s more of a soft, gentle thud than a high-pitched ping, but there’s plenty of power to boot. Beyond the lines, each putter has a grey smoke PVD finish which is both glare-reducing and durable. All of these classic styles are faithfully reproduced but with the modern touch of a deep-milled face. Ned used to always call them as he saw them, once referring to a young manager’s brilliant new initiative as “a new dress on an old girl.” The cynic out there could say the same thing about the new Infinite line – the updates are purely cosmetic. But give Wilson credit, the old girls do look pretty sharp in their new outfits.

Sound & Feel

In addition, distance control from 10 feet was a bit more difficult to manage with the putter’s rigid feel. Overall, the weighting was considered a positive, as was the grip. Performance From 20 Feet The weighting, alignment lines, counterbalanced technology and overall feel set players up for success from this range. Overall
