Adapted into a television film in the United States in 1982 with Bill Bixby (Luke), Lesley-Anne Down (Bridget), Olivia de Havilland (Honoria) and Helen Hayes (Lavinia). In this adaptation, Luke is not a retired policeman but a professor from MIT on vacation. Sinopsis: La señora Pinkerton, una anciana vecina de la localidad, le cuenta al ex policía Luke Fitzwilliam los entresijos de los crímenes recientemente acaecidos allí, y le anuncia que la próxima víctima será el doctor Humbleby.

Her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, came out in 1920. During her first marriage, Agatha published six novels, a collection of short stories, and a number of short stories in magazines. Following the formula I just mentioned, the book opens with policeman Luke Fitzwilliam on a train and he sees an old lady who tells him about a murder that is going to happen. He does not give it much care until it happens and the lady is killed when he decided to take things into his hands and investigate it, In this adaptation, it is Miss Marple who meets Lavinia Pinkerton on the train. After Miss Marple reads about Lavinia being killed, she travels to Wychwood under Ashe for the funeral. There she teams up with Luke Fitzwilliam to investigate the sequence of unusual deaths. In late 1926, Agatha's husband, Archie, revealed that he was in love with another woman, Nancy Neele, and wanted a divorce. On 8 December 1926 the couple quarreled, and Archie Christie left their house, Styles, in Sunningdale, Berkshire, to spend the weekend with his mistress at Godalming, Surrey. That same evening Agatha disappeared from her home, leaving behind a letter for her secretary saying that she was going to Yorkshire. Her disappearance caused an outcry from the public, many of whom were admirers of her novels. Despite a massive manhunt, she was not found for eleven days. Honoria drugs Bridget's tea and takes her into the woods, where the two of them begin talking. Bridget has not drunk the tea (though Honoria doesn't know that) and is ready for what comes. Honoria reveals a knife covered in Whitfield's fingerprints, and informs Bridget that she will kill her and leave the knife at the scene. Further, Honoria arranges for Whitfield to be seen walking alone through the area where Bridget's body will be. Instead, Bridget fights with Honoria. Luke realises that Honoria is the murderer and rescues Bridget. Bridget and Luke leave the village to live together as a married couple. There is no climactic scene in the woods--here Miss Marple reveals the facts during a denouement. Honoria's motive here is not that she wants to cast blame on Horton. She is trying to protect a guilty secret from many years ago: she had an unwanted pregnancy after being raped by her brother, whom she subsequently pushed into a river. She then abandoned the baby by floating her in a basket down the river. The baby was rescued, adopted by an American family, the Learys, and grew up to be Bridget Conway. Filming took place in Scotland in the summer of 2023 on the two-part drama series. [3] [4] First-look images from the production were released in November 2023. [5] Broadcast [ edit ] E.R. Punshon in The Guardian 's issue of 11 July 1939 said that, "Readers may miss the almost supernatural cunning of Poirot, but then if Luke also depended on the famous 'little grey cells' he would be merely another Poirot instead of having his own blundering, straightforward, yet finally effective methods." Mr. Punshon summed up by saying that the story, "must be counted as yet another proof of Mrs Christie's inexhaustible ingenuity." [7]

There's no trailer yet for Murder Is Easy but it’s early days. When one is released, we’ll post it on here. Behind the scenes, locations and more on Murder Is Easy What makes me happy every time I read her books is that she has a formula while writing. Their is an event at the beginning, then the murder and then we are introduced to all of the characters gradually and finally everything comes together and the mystery is solved. The English used is surprisingly easy to read for books that has been written a century ago. Murder Is Easy star Tamzin Outhwaite as Mel Owen EastEnders. (Image credit: BBC) Is there a trailer of Murder is Easy? Murder is Easy is an upcoming TV series, an adaptation of the Agatha Christie detective fiction, first published in the UK by the Collins Crime Club on 5 June 1939. It is adapted by Siân Ejiwunmi-Le Berre and directed by Meenu Gaur. Luke and Bridget decide that Bridget will leave Whitfield's estate to stay at Honoria Waynflete's house. Luke collects their luggage and prepares to leave, while Bridget and Honoria take a walk in the woods. Honoria reveals herself to be the murderer. During her engagement to Whitfield, Honoria had killed her own pet bird after it bit her, which prompted Gordon to abandon the engagement. She vowed revenge on Gordon, and decided to set him up for crimes he did not commit. She encouraged him in the belief that God exacted immediate retribution from those who disrespected him.

This best-selling author of all time wrote 66 crime novels and story collections, fourteen plays, and six novels under a pseudonym in romance. Her books sold more than a billion copies in the English language and a billion in translation. According to Index Translationum, people translated her works into 103 languages at least, the most for an individual author. Of the most enduring figures in crime literature, she created Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple. She atuhored The Mousetrap, the longest-running play in the history of modern theater. Mary Dell of the Daily Mirror, wrote on 8 June 1939, "It'll keep you guessing will this latest book from the pen of one of the best thriller writers ever." [8] Here Agatha Christie again turns away from her established detectives to try something new. A string of apparently unrelated deaths turns out to be devious multiple murder plot. It's very easy to kill, so long as no one suspects you. And, you see, the person in question is just the last person anyone would suspect." Chase, Stephanie (February 21, 2023). "BBC announces new Agatha Christie murder mystery adaptation". Digital Spy . Retrieved November 14, 2023.In 1930, Christie married archaeologist Max Mallowan (Sir Max from 1968) after joining him in an archaeological dig. Their marriage was especially happy in the early years and remained so until Christie's death in 1976. I actually did suspect who the murderer was quite a while before the Big Reveal happened. So this is one that you can figure out if you're looking closely. Although, I wrongly guessed why they were offing everyone.

The start of this book is really promising, an old lady traveling on a train meets a gentleman (Mr. Fitzwilliam) and tells a tall tale about a series of murder that takes place in her cozy little village. The gentleman not believing a word goes on his own merry way and later comes to know that now the old lady is dead. Here goes the Gentleman to the cozy little village to carry out his own sleuth work. Yossman, K.J.; Ramachandran, Naman (July 10, 2023). I think Christie was also having fun with the idea of a small village being inundated with murders. So many of her novels are set in small communities that they must have started to seem much more dangerous than generally thought. Mind you, even today people move to small towns expecting a safer environment, only to find that human nature is still present and bad things can still happen. The script is a little clunky at times, some of Luke's dialogue doesn't work, but the whole thing is elevated by a wonderful cast, the cast list makes for impressive reading, and fair play the acting is terrific, Bill Bixby, Lesley-Anne Down, Freddie Jones all spot on, and of course there's real Star quality in the form of Olivia del Havilland. Due to a connection that Luke has, he is able to pretend to be a cousin of a woman named Bridget Conway that lives there and is to be married soon to Gordon Whitfield. Filming has begun on Murder is Easy, a major new adaptation of Agatha Christie's novel made by Mammoth Screen (The Serpent, World on Fire) and Agatha Christie Limited (And Then There Were None, Death on the Nile) for BBC One and iPlayer, in a co-commission with BritBox International.
