Peki. As a baseball tournament is to be held, the male students of Class 3-E are forced to play an exhibition match against the top players of the boys baseball club. Despite knowing the odds are against them, particularly when pitted against baseball club captain Kazutaka Shindō, Koro-sensei is prompted to coach the students for the match. On the day of the match, the students of Class 3-E use a bunting strategy to load the bases, allowing Sugino to help the team get an early lead. Not willing to let this slide, Gakuhō takes over as the baseball club's coach to put a stop to the bunting strategy, using the power of hypnosis to turn Shindō into a bloodthirsty warrior. With the bases now loaded against Class 3-E, Karma uses previous provocations he made concerning some unfair play to his own advantage, placing himself and class president Yūma Isogai very close to Shindō, who breaks down from trying to swing his baseball bat without hurting them. This allows the students of Class 3-E to win the match. Afterwards, Sugino expresses how he wanted to show off the friends he made in Class 3-E, managing to rekindle his old friendship with Shindō.

This is weird, too, because it's kind of sweet sometimes. Like the troubled bully is shown that his violence is futile and he's forced to reflect on his actions. Koro Sensei helps the academically struggling kids better their grades. He jokes, laughs, cries. And the writing, though ridiculous, seems pretty good to me. But let me stop right there. With the final exams approaching, Koro-sensei offers an incentive, in which each student who gets the best overall score in their top subject will get to shoot off one of his tentacles during their next assassination attempt. Meanwhile, Shindō informs the students of Class 3-E about Class 3-A's Big Five ( Gakushū Asano, Teppei Araki, Ren Sakakibara, Natsuhiko Koyama and Tomoya Seo), who are all determined to take Class 3-E down. When Nagisa, Manami, Yukiko, Isogai and Rio Nakamura go to study in the main campus library, the Big Five proposes a contest, stating whichever class snags the most top spots in the exams can demand anything from the losing class. While Class 3-A sets their sights on making Class 3-E show complete servitude to them, Koro-sensei proposes his own suggestion of what Class 3-E can ask from their opponents. With both classes determined to win, the stage for the end-of-term final exams is set. Blu-ray&DVD 第8巻" (in Japanese). Archived from the original on June 26, 2015 . Retrieved June 25, 2015.

Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma Vol. 1-3 Review

Writing-wise, the volume is pretty solid overall. The pacing and story structure are solid, never feeling awkward in its transitions or moving at an odd speed. The dialogue and narration are pretty much fine, with plenty of good and amusing lines throughout. The tone of the book is odd, having a rather serious undercurrent to it that never really completely disappears despite the goofy and over the top nature of the book. It can be off putting for some who might not be able to buy into the comic as much because of it, but it doesn’t particularly bother me. The setting and area for the story, this entire school, are really interesting and feel fully alive. Throughout the book (and not in just one big info-dump), we learn a lot about this school and its policies, how other students react to E-3, and even how the teachers operate. It paints a rather harsh environment and adds a bit of drama on the school side of the story (not only does the class have to worry about Koro, but also their own grades as well). All of this stuff makes for a very unique and memorable experience. Koro Sensei has already blown up the moon. He promises not to do the same to the Earth on one condition…that he be allowed to teach a certain junior high school remedial class for one year. In addition, he’ll allow the students to attempt to take him out at any time without retaliating. Whoever succeeds gets a huge cash reward from the Ministry of Defense. But now the students of Class 3-E are the only ones standing in the way of the destruction of the planet! Kunugigaoka Junior High is a school that is currently home to a rather unusual thing. In Classroom 3-5 (the lowest ranking in terms of grade point average), the class is taught by this very strange and odd figure. It looks like the Wal-Mart smiley face head attached to some unseen body made up of tons of tentacles, all hidden underneath some graduation gown. This strange being is some kind of alien force that has recently blown up a majority of the moon (leaving it in a permanent crescent shape form) and is threatening to destroy Earth at the end of the school year…

Written & drawn by: Yusei MatsuiTranslated by: Tetsuichiro MiyakiEnglish adaptation by: Bryant TurnageA powerful being with the head of a smiley face and an unknown number of tentacles blasts a hole in the moon and says he’ll do the same to the earth if humanity doesn’t stop him first. He makes a deal with the world’s leaders to become the teacher of Class 3-E from Kunugigaoka Junior High, where the students will be allowed to try to assassinate him by the school year’s end—as long as it doesn’t get in the way of their studies. The Manga of Assassination Classroom is written and illustrated by Yūsei Matsui and was published in Japan by Shueisha in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since Issue 31 of 2012. Viz Media published the manga in tankōbon volume format. Viz Adds Assassination Classroom, Resident Evil Manga". Anime News Network. 4 March 2014 . Retrieved July 2, 2014. So after the initial premise is revealed, it’s repetition all the way through: students try to murder monster, fail, monster turns out to be a good teacher and improve students’ grades, then do it all over again until it’s over. It’s not interesting enough for me. Also I think it’s trying to be funny but it really isn’t - it’s absurd and over the top but there aren’t really any jokes here.

Avex Pictures has released the series on Blu-ray and DVD, in a limited edition, in Japan from March 27, 2015 to October 28, 2016. So how do I as a non-manga reader describe Assassination Classroom? Absurdism. It makes no sense and you just have to go with it for pure nonsensical entertainment value. Koro Sensei, a pun meaning "the teacher that can't be killed," is wanted by the Japanese Ministry of Defense for destroying most of the moon and promising to destroy the Earth unless he's stopped. So naturally he's offered a teaching position to keep him from doing harm and causing panic, and a classroom of thirty armed teenagers try to kill him every day while he teaches them grammar and algebra. I shit you not, that's the truth. And it's truly, utterly bizarre.Funimation has released the series on Blu-ray and DVD in North America, in a regular and a limited edition, since May 17, 2016.
