Description

GT-85 Bike Lubricantis a tried and tested multi-purpose lubricant. This Bike lubricant has a unique formula that contains polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and is great for cleaning, protecting and lubricating just about anything. Perfect on bikes, GT85 makes maintaining and protecting your bike easy, whether you are loosening a rusty or stiff part or protecting your bike chain from all types of weather conditions, GT85 will help your bike stay in great condition all year round. Features & Benefits:

It consists of a mix of lubricants, and the WD does stand for ‘Water Displacement’ but its other uses as a cleaner and protector are more prominent. GT85 It wasn’t long before people realised that the product could be used to both protect and recondition their vehicles. If you are looking for a lubricant with the ability to clean, remove and protect, then GT85 should be your go-to. The flies in this oily ointment are the Ferrosol’s old-fashioned nozzle with an easy-to-lose tube, and the price. Value choice: AC-90 Photos by: Tom BarnardIn terms of a protectant, WD40 is very good at looking after your chrome and metals, keeping them safe from water intrusion, rust and corrosion.

Surprisingly, once you've cleaned your bike you can use GT85 to get a real shine from the frame, of course using a different cloth, preferably dry and microfibre. Traditional oils tend to attract dirt so should be avoided if possible, which is why a product like GT85 is a better choice for use as a cleaner / lubricant. GT85 is the silicone lubricant spray, the water displacing spray, the PTFE spray. Use it on your car and your car engines. If you are looking for a cleaner, remover and protector that can lubricate to loosen things up, then WD40 is the way to go. Finally, weneeded totrythe actual lubrication properties. Without a full laboratory at our disposal, we usedabearinglesswheelwhich simply spinson a metal axle. We degreased the parts thoroughly between tests and then sprayed thesurfaceswith each of the samples. The wheel was then spun using an electric motor and the revolutions counted before it finally stopped. As it is such a thin lubricant, you may find it needs re-applying more often than a specialised chain lube/wax. Ferrosol is just such a product. Inside the bland-looking can is a fluid which blitzed all but one of our tests. The only stage it didn’t win was penetrating our rusty nut thread, when it took marginally longer to seep through.

But the biggest difference compared to rivals was Ferrosol’s ability to ward off corrosion – it was the only fluid which kept our steel rust free for longer than a week. Even after a month of being showered in salty water there was only minor surface corrosion on the steel, while all of the other samples had all given up and looked indistinguishably rusty. The added PTFE was designed to reduce friction, wear and energy consumption on components, improving operating efficiency on application. The other big thing is GT85 helps prevent rust. It has a PTFE formula which provides a protective layer to any parts exposed to bad weather, so that damp won’t affect them. Butin all of the other tests itscored badlysuggesting GT85 is not such anall-rounder.It offered very little in the way ofprotectionto our bare steel, withsignificant surfacerust showing after just two dayson our sample. And you wouldn’t be able to rely on it to get you started on a damp day either, as it camelast in our water dispersal test, allowing current to pass through after spraying. The verdict It’s not just dirt that the fluids can get rid of. They have long been used to dispel moisture from electric parts and ignition systems, helping to get cars started onrainydays. We tested this usinga damp meteron a wet sheet of glass.

So, whilst we wouldn’t necessarily recommend blasting your engine components with a pressure washer, you can really give your car the cleaning and protection it deserves by using GT85. That same formula is used today; it remains a resounding success just like it was at the time of its release. What does it do?
