About this deal

When I reviewed Kill Team: Chalnath, I got a bit of a headache trying to figure out whether or not I thought the box was worth the money. To paraphrase a several paragraph-long explanation: although Octarius had a lot more content in it that Chalnath (as was to be expected: the former is a new edition box, the latter an expansion), the fact the two weren’t priced all that far apart left me unsure as to whether or not I felt like Chalnath was worth the money GW were charging for it. Essentially: was Octarius a bargain and Chalnath a fair price, or was Octarius a fair price and thus Chalnath a bit expensive?

The incredible new Voidscarred Corsairs come with a wide range of options, from deadly wraithcannons to vicious hekatarii blades, to arm all the different operatives you can field in their kill team – but they’re especially good at being super sneaky. Here’s how much you save buying the Nachmund box when comparing the retail price to our predicted values. ItemThe somewhat unimaginatively named Legionary Operatives make up the Chaos half of the Nachmund box.

Free actions can only be performed when another rule specifies. Each time an operative would perform a free action, the following rules apply. Nachmund, much like Chalnath, is a little sparse in terms of gaming aids and accessories. There are no range rulers, no dice, and no tokens in the box, so you’ll need to source these elsewhere if you want to play a game with the Nachmund box.

Fuel Reservoir

Citadel Miniatures: Two full Kill Teams of Corsair Voidscarred and Traitor Legionnaires operatives, each featuring a wide array of customisation and alternate assembly options. Extra components allow for deep personalisation of your Kill Team, and many models can be assembled as multiple different kinds of operative. Each team also comes with a full transfer sheet with over 360 markings and emblems for customising your models. [3]

Felarchs are the team leaders. They also have the Take Aim action and have the ability to activate friendly operatives immediately after they’re done acting with Coordinated Strike. We’re now seven months into the new edition of Kill Team and we’re once again receiving a hearty injection of fresh content. As you might expect from Warp-infused super soldiers, these Heretic Astartes are capable of putting out some eye-watering damage. None show this off better than the Legionary Butcher, owner of this rather impressive two-handed axe, who can potentially kill as many as three (three!) enemy operatives in a single activation. This recipe for slaughter begins with a Mark of Khorne, one of the heretical upgrades available to the Legionary kill team. You then start the Turning Point by activating the Blood for the Blood God Strategic Ploy and Charge the Butcher into as many foes as he can reach.

There is also some intrinsic value as this is the only way to get the new Chaos upgrade sprue and the Eldar Voidscarred Corsairs early. As it has taken months traditionally for the teams to come out on their own. Not every industrial cloud is a choking hazard – Exhaust Vents pump out harmless fumes. Not only is charging through a plume of smoke extremely cool and dramatic, but it’s also an easy way to grant Cover to vulnerable operatives. Standing right in the cloud offers protection without compromising mobility, letting canny commanders use Exhaust Vents to sneak their close combat troops up close in (relative) safety.

The Soul Weaver is the team Medic. They have the standard Heal D3 ability, plus they have a unique action that allows them to give another friendly operative +1 APL for a turn. This is probably the least essential of the operatives, since healing isn’t particularly useful on 8W 4+ operatives. As before, the great thing about the Voidscarred is that there are multiple build options for each figure, and plenty of ways to individualise each model. The likelihood of you turning up to a game and finding someone else there with the same combo of models in their Corsair Voidscarred team is infinitesimally tiny. We’re basing this off the Octarius Prices rather than the Chalnath becasue, along with the 20(ish) miniatures in all the sets, there is also a ton of chunky scenery parts in this box. So we expect Octarius to be the base price. There’s only one book in the Nachmund box, but it’s a pretty important one as it contains all the info players need to get to grips with their new factions and the Nachmund setting. Kill Team: Nachmund War ManualExploring an underground vent might not always be the best option because who knows what will be in there. Still, getting basically free XP is pretty cool. If, however, you’re after more of the same stuff as can be found within the cardboard walls of the Nachmund box, the path may seem a little less clear. However, as before, the parts for each model are scattered haphazardly across three sprues once again, just as they were with the Chaos units. But the issue is more profound with the Voidscarred, as each model is on the whole made up of more parts. Said parts are also significantly smaller, which makes them even more difficult to find. Just as planned, we end with Tzeentch. With the insight granted by the Mark of Tzeentch, your operatives will be able to tap into the power of the warp and seek out weak spots in enemy armour – great for landing those vital critical hits. Now that we’ve seen all the miniatures from the new Kill Team boxed set, let’s look at what else is underneath that cardboard lid.
