Description

When I first had the idea of writing a series of books based on The Seven Sisters of the Pleiades, I had no idea where it would lead me. I was very attracted to the fact that each one of the mythological sisters was, according to their legends, a unique and strong female. Some say they were the Seven Mothers who seeded our earth – there is no doubt that, in their stories, they were all highly fertile! – and had many children with the various Gods who were fascinated by their strength, beauty and ethereal air of mysticism.

The spellbinding series continues. Following the bestselling The Seven Sisters , The Storm Sister is the second book in Lucinda Riley's epic saga of love and loss, inspired by the mythology of the Seven Sisters constellation. This story has many layers and each intricate layer is written with enough compassion and depth. Despite of Ally's POV, the author has given opportunity to her readers to look at the story from their own perspectives. The characters are well-crafted and exceptionally brilliant. Although this is the second book, hence we get a brief idea about all the six sisters as well as some of the supporting cast in the first book. The following year however, Nina and Edvard performed together in Rome and afterwards returned reunited to Bergen, where they built a house in 1885 called Troldhaugen (below), which still stands today and is part of the Grieg museum. When I wrote about the first novel of the cycle, I assumed that each book, in addition to the theme of experiencing loss, finding a family and forgiveness, a love and adventure component, would be a story about one of the modern wonders of the world, and now I understand that I was wrong. Bet on the next round of the game - each novel corresponds to its own kind of art: the first sculpture, the second music. Knyga man labai patiko. Then, as Lucinda Riley, her career as an author soared. Alongside the Seven Sisters series, she wrote novels such as Hothouse Flower (2010, also titled The Orchid House), The Girl on the Cliff (2011), The Midnight Rose (2013), The Angel Tree (2014) and The Butterfly Room (2019). Her total sales worldwide were 33m. Edvard began piano lessons at the age of six and it was his mother who taught and encouraged his talents. By the age of twelve, Edvard had already composed his first piece, Variations on a German Melody. He showed little interest in school but excelled at music.

In 1874, his friend, the writer Henrik Ibsen, asked him to set one of his most famous works, Peer Gynt, to music. Shortly before the publication of The Missing Sister , Lucinda announced an eighth and final book in The Seven Sisters series, promising to answer the question at the heart of the story: Who is Pa Salt? Before her death, Lucinda was able to write several important passages and detailed notes on the story. She expressed a clear wish that her eldest son, Harry, should complete the series if the worst were to happen. Ally has also recently embarked on a deeply passionate love affair that will change her destiny forever. But with her life now turned upside down, Ally decides to leave the open seas and follow the trail that her father left her, which leads her to the icy beauty of Norway... Lucinda was born in Lisburn, County Down, and spent her first few years in the nearby village of Drumbeg. Her mother, Jane (nee Cottham), and great-aunt had been professional actors, her grandmother was an opera singer and her great-uncle was chief lighting designer at the Royal Opera House. How does Pa Salt’s quote for Ally, ‘In moments of weakness, you will find your greatest strength,’ affect and aid her decisions on her journey?I’m sure that like me, there will be one sister in particular you will most identify with, and a sister you like the least. However, the beauty of writing about the girls is that each of them have their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Just as we all do. The Missing Sister, the final book in the series, published in May this year, follows the sextet on a search for another daughter adopted by the wealthy Pa Salt, whose death and burial at sea sparked their quest to solve the mystery of why he adopted girls from all corners of the globe. When Ally discovers her musical heritage, it re-awakens her creativity and her passion for playing the flute. Do you think such talents are passed on via nature or nurture? What did you think of Theo’s unromantic and pragmatic proposal? Would it upset you if you were proposed to this way?
