Description

Especially if you want to practice your DJing skills, having a pair of speakers that make you want to move is an essential point to cover. This speaker is as compact and portable as the Pioneer DM 40 speaker. Although it delivers a tremendous flat response to help you analyze your music, it's not precisely perfect for casually listening to music like the Pioneer DM 40 speaker. But it's an excellent choice for the audio enthusiast who needs a budget speaker to help them analyze the depth of their favorite songs. If you are hard-pressed to invest more into your monitoring system, then you can rest assured that the DJ DM 40s will still be impressive for your DJ practice, and casual listening. We would also like to make clear that it is also entirely possible to produce music on sonically inaccurate speakers. The DM 40 monitors are missing some strength and accuracy in the top end. Each speaker has 21W of power behind them – this is not a lot, but more than enough to practice your mixing skills comfortably, and casually enjoy music, movies, and games.

You can always trust that any product from Pioneer always comes with fantastic design and high-quality build Quality. The first thing you might notice about this speaker is that it has curved front edges that are not just for beauty. For a small speaker, the DM-40 sound simply superb and punch harder than their small footprint would suggest. The included convex diffusers use DECO technology from Pioneer’s sister brand TAD audio. The afore mentioned diffuser helps spread the high frequencies. Ensuring wide, even coverage around the room, reducing the need to sit directly in front the speaker to achieve the best listening experience. According to Pioneer, the curved front edges help minimize undesirable sonic reflections and the DECO convex diffusers aid in making the sonic sweet spot as wide as possible. These solutions also make for an intriguing smart design. Very very happy I spent the extra money to get these. I'll update this review if my experience with and opinion of these speakers ever change. If you plan on only practicing DJing, as well as enjoying some casual listening, then the extra punch can be seen as an engaging boost. The shift is noticeable, albeit not exactly massive. For light studio tasks, it is capable, and they are a functional pair of monitors for light mixing and editing work. When it comes to how it’s built, this speaker feels solid and firm. The speaker has a beautiful crescent diffuser to lead the high frequencies that nest around the bass driver. Furthermore, this speaker has two ports in the front. These ports ensure that you can mount the speaker next to a wall without effect.

With built-in amplification, there's no need for a separate amplifier. With a punchy Class D amp built-in, these speakers are more than capable of making themselves heard on your mixing desk. Simply plug the active speaker into the mains and connect the other, passive, speaker via conventional speaker cable. One of them is the master speaker – it has all the inputs and volume controls, whereas the other acts as the slave speaker.

Versatile sound

Pioneer is a company that has gathered a lot of reverence throughout the years. Their flagship gear is known to be the cream of the crop when it comes to delivering excellent audio quality DJ equipment. Truthfully, the bass isn’t excellent, but it's not bad either. But you would only appreciate it when you play it alongside a speaker that functions in a similar capacity as this speaker. It would fill up a small, enclosed space. Nevertheless, the bass is still punchy, warm, and deep enough for beginner DJs.

The front bass reflex speaker delivers rich and deep basses, capable of 3D stereo sound and has a wide stage picture, providing clear, lively sound even when used for mixing music or just listening to music. Pioneer DJ’s top mixers, DJ controller units, and CDJs cost a pretty penny, there is no way around that. However, in recent years the company has started leaning into the beginner-friendly market. The company’s efforts to create budget-friendly options of its gear have been praised by many due to the great results. The front mounted bass ports help the bass driver drop lower, moving more air as a result. Although most speakers feature a bass port, they are often found on the rear of the speaker. As a result most speakers suffer in performance if mounted close to a wall. Thankfully, Pioneer DJ have placed two ports on the front of the speaker, meaning the DM-40 is perfectly suited to being placed close to a wall.

The specially engineered ducts cut down on impediments and produce a clean, grand, low-end oomph regardless of your volume levels. Class AB Amplifiers
