Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon. I've been anticipating Things We Hide from the Light for so long. I was a little bit nervous about going in, because sometimes the second book is not as good as the first book (*points at my review of Queen of Myth and Monster*). But oh my god I should have never doubted Lucy Score! This book was pure joy and enjoyment. I couldn't stop reading. I swear every time I wanted to stop to go to sleep or go do something else, the chapter ended in a way that it was impossible for me to put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen next! This book is addictive af. Knox and Naomi get married, and Tina signs over custody of Waylay to the couple. They live in the main lodge while Liza J lives in the cottage that Naomi used to stay in. Knox and Naomi try to have babies of their own but prove to be infertile. The novel ends with them telling loved ones that they have adopted two little girls. Waylay has become an important part of their family, and most of the previously single characters have found a love interest. Score does a beautiful job describing the characters, the setting, and the feelings of those involved. I feel that reading her books is a very immersive experience. i honestly wish i hated nash so that i can shit on him and have fun doing it. but i cant because i dont hate him, i dont care about him. he’s just so dull. boring. vanilla. no wait scratch that, vanilla has too much flavour. plain yogurt. thats what he is.

It doesn’t help that Knox has Lina move next door to Nash. Not only does have to see her beautiful face everyday, but he also has to hear her whenever she’s moving around next door to him😬. Nash. This MAN! This vulnerable, sweet, simping, infuriating, stubborn, pain in the ass man! I love him. He is so perfect for Lina. I loved how the story showed him dealing with PTSD and how he comes to terms with his past. And the dog!!!! The romance is so, so good. That epilogue was EVERYTHING! Yes, I totally cried! Well, technically he thought I was Tina [the twin sister] when he was yelling at me in front of an entire cafe full of strangers.” The "climax" with the sister and her boyfriend was so unrealistic I was dying laughing. And not in a good way 💀

When will my book be dispatched from your warehouse?

The author knows how to depict movement and action. Show and tell. Maybe that's why it has so many decent critics. It's a story aesthetically pleasing.

Okay, seriously? You hate her guts but you don’t want her dating anyone else? Even you have to realize how unhealthy that is,” I said. Every character has the same personality across all of her books. You can basically replace any of her small towns with another of her small towns and the story would still work because everyone talks the same way, acts the same way, has the same quirks, uses the same style of bantering, etc. I know its just how she writes, but can we change it up? I should not be able to read one series and then find the same or identical conversations in another. Lucy Score makes writing romance look so easy. This book hooked me from the very first chapter and just did not let go. Naomi and Knox are immediately attracted to one another but dance around their magnetism, as neither is looking for or desiring a relationship. As the story progresses, however, their connection is undeniable and they soon throw out all the rules they’ve set in place. And there was only a very tiny third act break up--as in it lasted like two minutes for them before they make up!! Hallelujah rejoice. So neither one did anything extremely stupid to cause some massive issue. Its so nice to read books where there aren’t ten chapters devoted to a breakup you know is going to get resolved and is just difficult to read. This book doesn't have that, and its amazing.

Nash is in a funk as the book begins as he is trying to heal both mentally and physically from a gunshot wound that occurred in the first book. He cannot seem to get his head on straight or enjoy what he previously did, not even his work. i came here for the luciansloane crumbs and i was not disappointed at all, especially after that bonus epilogue!!! why are both brothers obsessed with dogs its just so BORING like just gimme the dog pov at this point it’s probably more interesting than nash. give them different things to love idk 😭 and its the way we get sm detail about their dogs too. i honestly dont care. babe lets switch it up a bit! my man lucian better be different. maybe he’ll have a parrot or something idk.

Can my resolve be as strong as Lina’s thighs were and Nash’s resistance to pushing all the way in (😉) during that fight in Chapter 36?🙏🏻 Just like the above sentence from this book, this isn't what readers like me too wanted. This was a strange book where the characters behaved in bizarre ways. The main characters, Naomi and Knox, are both above 35 years. Yet, they are acting like irritating kindergarten kids who are obsessed with actions similar to Disney characters in some parts of the book and like toxic, emotionally manipulating, and stalking characters in the other parts. Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score is a bestselling romance novel published in 2022. The story revolves around Naomi Witt, a woman in her thirties who leaves her wealthy fiancé at the altar and heads to a small town in northern Virginia to help her twin sister, Tina. However, upon arriving, she discovers that her sister has disappeared, leaving behind her 11-year-old daughter, Waylay. Naomi takes on the responsibility of caring for her niece while trying to rebuild her own life.
