The Ti Vo VOX Remote TM Voice button lets you control your TiVo with your voice. Hold down the button while giving a command. This is the very first thing to do when you notice the TiVo remote isn’t working at all. It could be that the batteries are bad and need to be changed or they are incorrectly positioned. Press and hold down ( ) and on the remote at the same time until the light on the top of the remote flashes green twice. Once you’ve programmed your remote you’ll notice that the light on the top will flash green instead of red when using it for volume and mute control.

If you have several TiVo devices in the house, it’s easy to get the remote controls all mixed up. The remote you are using may not be set up for the particular device. Or in some cases, it might be down to the box itself, which can be resolved by simply restarting it. If you restart it and it helps, but then after a while it continues to struggle with connection, then the issue is with the remote itself, and you’ll want to get yourself a replacement. In most cases, if your Virgin remote works some of the time, but not all of the time, then the issue is likely not with the remote itself. It’s most likely down to the batteries, which you can easily replace. Common devices with remotes prone to causing interferences include stereo, DVD, TV and wireless game controllers. Ensure the remote is set up for the device Press any button on the remote to see if the amber light flashes. If it doesn’t light up, replace the old batteries with a new set or position them correctly and try again.

The remote control feature can be set up with as many devices as you like, just as long as your phone or tablet is connected to the same home network as your Virgin TV V6 or TiVo box.

It could be that there is another remote control in the room sending an IR signal. This might prevent the TiVo remote from working correctly. You can do this with your Tivo remote by simply holding down the Reset Button and the Clear Button at the same time for several seconds until the light on your remote starts flashing green. Then, press the down button on your remote 3 times, and select the OK button. This will reset your Tivo remote. Something else that commonly comes up as a problem with Virgin Remotes is issues with its pairing with your box. If your remote isn’t paired to your device properly, then this could be the main cause of your problem. In some cases, this should resolve the problems you’ve been having with your Virgin remote. Sometimes, there is an issue with the TiVo box that prevents it from responding to the remote control. To confirm this, press any button on your remote. Tap the date/time at the top of the screen and use the selector to find the date you want. You can view channel listings for up to the next two weeks. Generally, when you go into the settings on your Virgin box, you should be able to program the remote to work with the TV – the box will do this automatically. Then, the volume buttons should work properly. Press and hold the A button for two seconds or longer to turn the screen reader on or off. You’ll hear the Screen Reader say “Screen Reader on” or “Screen Reader off.” This feature reads the DVR screen text that appears on screen, out loud.
