The DJI OSMO Action 3 is an excellent action camera that offers plenty of features and rugged build quality for less money than its main rival, which, admittedly, makes it more appealing in the eyes of many. Better still, most of the shortcomings are not significant and will only affect a small number of shooting modes/people. Voice Control recognizes voice commands with a high recognition rate to control the camera when hands are busy. Over one billion colors can be recorded to reproduce your world in stunning detail, delivering smoother and more natural color gradations for greater flexibility in post-production. The colour temperature sensor intelligently adjusts white balance and AE for highly accurate colours, even in difficult lighting environments

Despite these limitations, however, I found performance to be pretty impressive. The camera’s image stabilisation ensured footage remained smooth, even while the camera was shaking around quite violently, and the horizon levelling was effective, keeping video dead level. To be 100 per cent honest, I usually prefer shooting action videos using 360° cameras such as the Insta360 X3 because I don't have to shoot footage twice in different orientations, but thanks to the magnetic mounting of the OSMO Action 3, it was less effort to switch from horizontal to vertical shooting than using a GoPro. The feature-list is still not (quite) as rich as the GoPro Hero 10 (there is no equivalent of ‘Hindsight’) but the price is lower too. Before use, please close the battery cover and the port cover, and also tighten the Lens Protective Cover. It is recommended to install the waterproof case for long-term underwater shooting or when shooting in environments with high pressure or water impacts. Osmo Action 3 and its Waterproof Case have an IP68 waterproof rating. Do not use the camera in hot springs or expose it to corrosive liquids.

DJI's inclusion of a front touchscreen on the Action 3 can't be overlooked. Historically, front displays on action cameras were only used for framing up shots, but this time around, you can control all the camera's features with your digits when vlogging without having to turn it around. The camera can handle temperatures as low as -20C (-4F) and is waterproof at depths of up to 16 meters without needing any additional housing. Fast charging and heat management In D-Cinelike 10-bit mode, the camera supports up to 4K/100fps, 2.7K/120fps, and 1080p/200fps video recording. The least impressive part of the Osmo Action 3 is the still photos. With only 12 megapixels available in this sensor, the results just don’t match up with what the GoPro Hero11 is capable of with its 27-megapixel sensor.

Image quality can’t match the best GoPro cameras but the Osmo Action 3 is cheaper and has plenty to recommend it

The DJI Osmo Action 3 has a few things going for it that competing GoPro Hero cameras don't match, including the front touch LCD, a 52-foot waterproof rating, and easy-on-easy-off mounting system. Battery life is another strong point, with good runtimes, a resistance to overheating, and a sensible charging case accessory as marks in its favor.
