Faking It is a Highly Entertaining, Fun, Laugh out Loud, Uplifting, Feel-good read, but at times Tender and Emotional. Toward the end, the book got better and better since Lexi started to accept herself for who she was which was really amazing. The ending was very realistic and didn't end in a way that made you feel that this can't happen in real life which was pretty amazing. Emma and Ella have barely seen each other since they were 18, with their lives going in very different directions and yet when Emma calls her identical twin sister Ella and asks for her help rather urgently, Ella reluctantly agrees. I don't know how the author does it, but I get to fall in love with her characters every single time. They're delightful, lovable, funny... Ella was the perfect mix of crazy and level headedness. I just loved how she didn't think twice about going to her sister's aid even though she could have used past grievances to not wanna help her, not reproaching her at all. It was so funny reading about her new "mum" status and her dealings with Emma's kids (yeah, I even liked the moody teenager and I always hate moody teenagers), her colleagues and the Yummy Mummy Mafia (what an apt moniker!). And Marco. What to say about Marco except...where can I get one like him?! I love that Ella was an unapologetic Bridget Jones. She was light, fun, and full of life. She was happy against all odds and society’s expectations.

Another thing that I liked was how the story approached parental issues very straightforwardly. It was sad to see how little Lexi’s mother cared about her but I think it was also eye-opening, reading about how such a negative relationship could affect a person. It was reassuring to know that Lexi still had people who love and supported her- her next door neighbour and childhood friend Nolan (yay for a completely platonic boy-girl friendship btw!), and his mother, Teresa.

My Book Notes

I’m going to embarrass her so hard she’ll spend the next year in her room trying to work out how to change her identity,’ I reply. ‘Millie has been walking all over Emma for too long. I’m going to go in there and – maybe I’ll grab a drink? Maybe I’ll get up on a table and dance?’ Lexi has a mom with a long list of dirtbag boyfriends and an absent father. Over the course of the novel, Lexi has to deal with reconnecting with her father and his new family as well as facing her mother’s terrible, new boyfriend. One thing I didn’t like was how Lexi’s mom handled her past and current boyfriends. I found it strange how she could leave Lexi’s father, but still had boyfriends that abused her or sexual harassed Lexi. I liked very much Tyler, because he was an authentic guy. A guy that even though Lexi was using him was there for her when she needed him the most. He was the right guy for her. I really loved that dude!!! My body tells people that the only working out I do is what my pizza is going to cost me with my '20% off' code."

Her mother was an alchoolic person and her boyfriends at every time was assholes. She wasn't paying too much attention in her daughter and her father was out of the picture since she was four... But in reality she is all messed up,damaged, insecure, shallow and full of flaws, her character is very realistic. Yes, she is not all that perfect, guess what nobody is, but what I liked is how her character turned out to be, it evolved over time and this book basically is about Lexi's personal growth.Marco’s body tells me that he’s no stranger to the gym. My body tells people that the only working out I do is what my pizza is going to cost me with my ‘20 percent off’ code.

I loved the way Ella developed and changed not just to be Emma but in time to be a better person within herself, I loved everything about this book, it was an entertaining and fast book to read and certainly up to Portia MacIntosh's normal standards if not even better! Just loads of fun and I can imagine it would be a very amusing film too!The book is nice but it did not touch my heart. One can read if one is looking for a short simple book. I did not hate it but did not love it either so a 3/5 stars. Alright, are you looking for a laugh out loud, fun and lively romcom to take the winter blues away? I've got one right here from one of my favorite Boldwood authors, Portia MacIntosh. To be completely honest, I tend to shy away from YA books since there are only a select few that I can really tolerate. Since personally I find YA books where the only problem the heroine has is who she'll go to prom with or being accepted by her friends shallow. I mean, life isn't JUST about what you'll be wearing to the prom and reading books which has heroines who are like that irritate me. As for her parents, they were portrayed extremely unrealistically which you would understand once you start reading it.

It may sound ironic, but despite Lexi literally faking perfect, she was still an honest character. Phillip’s characterization is skilful and it’s what stands out most about her writing. Even though I wasn’t a fan of the things Lexi does, what matters was that I understood what drove her. I liked how realistic the portrayal of her character was, as well as the rest of the cast in the book. Like with Lexi’s “friends” for example- despite not liking them at all, I appreciated that they were exposed for their true asshole jerk selves. Overall, FAKING PERFECT is far from being perfect but it does have its merits and I highly enjoyed it. It would be really wrong of me not to recommend it. After thirteen years, she found out what was the deal with her father and she needs to get some answers about him, about her past with him... Marquez said "All human beings have three lives-public, private and secret." and I think he was right, we all live three lives, we are different person when we are with our friends, different person when we are with our family and different person when we are alone. Well I give this book 3.5 stars for I wanted it to have more details about the characters and yes there where situations I was expecting different reactions from the characters, like from the father when she told him about her mother and how she actually treated her and in the last two chapters, the story was a bit forced like it was really fast paced .The Characters are superbly written, the plot flowed along seamlessly, I loved all the drama, mishaps, mayhem and lil twists it kept the book exciting and fun. Ella Copper’s day is not off to a great start. First her flat is partially burned, and then she gets evicted. Then she gets in trouble with her boss (again) and, well, yes, is fired. And then her car refuses to work as well. Ella is 35 years old and at a crossroad as what to do next. This is when she receives a call from her twin sister Emma. Emma has a huge favour to ask: could Ella, pretty please, step into her shoes and take her place for few weeks, as she doesn’t want other people to know that she’s away. She has her reasons. Those people who shouldn’t know that Ella is Emma are not only her friends but also her kids… What would you do if you suddenly had to impersonate your more successful identical twin sister? Fake it till you make it... or till you get caught out!
