Description

The Fiskars X7 Hatchet is a compact yet formidable tool that exemplifies precision and durability. Its 14-inch length and 1.4-pound weight make it ideal for one-handed use, offering a perfect balance between portability and functionality. The axe head, crafted from hardened steel, maintains a sharp edge and withstands rigorous use, ensuring efficient cutting and chopping. The final verdict for this Fiskars X7 Hatchet Review is obviously a good one as I have had nothing but an easy time with it. If anything bad had happened over the last year, I would certainly have mentioned it, but I can’t think of a time it has let me down. The edge is easy to sharpen and maintains its sharpness for a decent period, making easy work of smaller wood and taking on anything bigger without hesitation.

Another consideration of an axe’s size is safety. And this may seem counterintuitive, but in general, the largest axes are the safest, especially for inexperienced users. The Fiskars X7 is versatile, excelling in tasks ranging from splitting small logs to clearing branches. Its innovative design, featuring a low-friction blade coating and a perfected blade geometry, enhances cutting performance while minimizing effort. We tested out the Fiskars X7 axe on a range of basic tasks and the results were impressive. Thinning branches off trees was a cinch and so was chopping campfire kindling. It’s light and easy to swing in awkward places like when you’re pruning trees. The two types of Fiskars axe types are chopping and splitting, and they look almost identical – but they are different.

Carpenters, sculptors, and anyone requiring a super-sharp blade will need to sharpen the X25 before use. To make that job easier, Fiskars offer an easy-to-use sharpener that is designed to match the X-Series blade profiles. Axe handle

Prandi is an Italian company that produces high-quality tools; this hatchet is no exception. In terms of value per dollar spent, this is one of the best hatchets on the market.

Not everyone plans to use this hatchet in the same way. While you might be looking for a cheap camping hatchet, someone else could be looking for a survival hatchet. In my experience the 28″ and 23″ chopping axes can chop or split up to around a 12” log. So they can fell a tree or break down firewood and can be used as a general “work axe”. Unlike the chopping axes, the splitting axes are only for splitting. But they are very popular because they are very effective and affordable. I think they are the best value splitting axe on the market (and one of the best all-around).Also, by creating a loop on the handle you’re effectively giving yourself a great means of hanging the hatchet where you want it. It’s always good to know exactly where your tool is when you’re not using it. Is it Worth the Money? Basically what will be a bigger pain: More swings when the work starts or carrying the extra size/weight. While I think there is a clear winner for a dedicated kindling hatchet, there are some serious alternatives that can do quite a bit more and still be a decent kindling tool. The actual X10 doesn’t seem to be sold in North America, just the Gerber branded Freescape 17.5. These axes are identical ( again Gerber is owned by Fiskars). Fiskars makes a wide range of products and is perhaps best known for its iconic orange scissors. They also own brands like Royal Doulton, Gerber, and Royal Albert. Summing up

The new model is said to have been perfected for accurate balance and high swing speed thanks to the lightweight handle and 71 cm length. If I could take one axe on this list for a longer camping trip, it would probably be this one, and if I don’t have a long distance to hike, then I would also take this X-Series model.

First Impression

So, remember when I said Husqvarna buys the heads of their hatchets from a Swedish company? I think Hults Bruk might be that company. I can’t find an official source that confirms this but it’s plausible. Now that we’ve looked at the five hatchets, it’s time for me to give you my final recommendation. Before I tell you which ones I think are the best, I’ll start by reminding you that your personal needs are what matter most. The 17” chopping axes have a unique head shape compared to the rest. It has a thinner wedge shape that lends itself to more chopping “bushcraft” type of work and less to splitting (but there is a separate splitting version). Model If you appreciate modern-looking axes with innovative technology, then the X25 should impress. Constructed using a PermaHead design, its head is virtually impossible to come loose from the handle. It will easily blow through typical kindling size wood and has more potential to be dangerous to less experienced users. The blade could find your other hand or your shins very easily if used incorrectly.
