There's a few things that will make a LEGO set a must have for me. One of those things is Christmas. I'm one of those annoying people who loves Christmas more than caring about whether my family want to watch a Hallmark Christmas movie in July. Christmas music hits my playlists early November, decorations go up the weekend after Thanksgiving. Part of those decorations is my collection of Christmas LEGO. This year I may need to convince my wife to get a second table because my collection is getting too big for my allotted corner.

I love how incredibly simple, yet poignant this design is, especially for us oldies who may remember actually using a desktop computer like this. Explore your favorite family Christmas traditions with this delightful building challenge. Build the quaint Elf Club House (10275) then explore all its cozy holiday details as you unwind with this hands-on project. It’s been tradition on the blog to publish my review of this year’s Winter Village set around Christmas, but LEGO were kind enough to offer the set for review, and I couldn’t wait till December. The mechanism for the oven works smoothly and seems nearly impossible to jam. It can be a little messy, though. Maybe that’s why that elf looks so unhappy: there’s some quality time with a mop in their near future.Highlights of the set: the mini-built gifts and furniture (especially the wrapping station, just genius!), I'm in love with the lights and will likely be creating more for my Winter Village, and of course the Christmas Tree. At it's core it's the same standard LEGO have settled on for how to build a really great tree, but here Chris took a totally different approach to the outer 'shell' and in the process created the fullest looking LEGO tree ever! New LEGO animals are always a moment to celebrate, and I’m very pleased with the overall design, which we first saw with the LEGO Patronus from last year’s Expecto Patronum set.

Bag 2: Onto the house. Immediately you notice now tight the floorprint is, a sharp contrast to the sprawling two story Gingerbread House last year. By the end of the bag you have the second floor in place. The wrap station is just flawless, I love it when small details grab me like this, they make a model so much more interesting. It's a shame we didn't get more space to flesh out the rest of the Elves living area. The first instruction booklet covers the first two bags of parts, and includes everything that isn’t part of the club house structure itself. It has the Christmas tree, a selection of gifts, a sleigh, a scarf-wearing elf and Brixen. These builds don’t really interact with the club house at all, so it could be a good opportunity to share the work around with a bit of family building. You know, if this set wasn’t meant just for adults. (I’m almostdone complaining about that.) What do you think of the 2020 Winter Village set? Do you think it’s a great addition to the Winter Village and does it fit in well with the other buildings? Looking for Christmas or Advent gift ideas? This model building kit is ideal for LEGO® fans or any adult or family who’d love to receive a model building kit with a beautiful display piece to enjoy.Only two of the faces have dual expressions, which is okay, but not great. As noted above, having a “sleeping” option for at least three of these characters would have been a nice enhancement. At over 8.5” (22cm) high and 5” (13cm) deep, this building set for adults and families makes an impressive Christmas present or secret Santa gift idea with a display model to enjoy year after year. Last but not least are the Christmas lights, which employ yet another new technique using bulbs instead of studs.

The Reindeer pulls a small basic sleigh, which has pearl gold embellishments which contrast nicely against the red and white. This just filled me with so much joy about how random this is, yet it fits the overall playful theme of this set so well. The Elf Club House is a fun little set, that expands on the Winter Village by providing a base of operations and accommodation for Santa’s hardworking Elves.

This year’s design is a breath of fresh air, and I love the use of 2 x 1 cutout wedges to give the tree its angled shape and sense of texture. Last but not least of the mini builds is this amazing retro desktop computer, with Elf looking up Santa’s Nice List. You think Facebook is bad because they have so much data on you? Wait till you see Santa’s file on you. The Elf Clubhouse joins 2014’s Santa’s Workshop and last year’s Gingerbread House as a fantasy-themed expansion of LEGO’s beloved Winter Village theme, which is a personal favourite of mine. The design of the Elf Club House is immediately recognizable as belonging to the Winter Village, thanks to the iconic sloped snow-blanketed roof and inclusion of the chimney. On the other end is a cabinet with a teapot on it, and a wrapping station. The use of the red and white doors as a roll of wrapping paper is absolutely inspired.
