Description

Nitecore has released the P23i, a long-range tactical flashlight that uses a single 21700 cell. And it’s “strobe ready!” Read on for testing!

While it’s not an all-new light, the P23i shows Nitecore’s commitment to “Keep Innovating.” The addition of the SFT70 is the biggest update, with its high output and throw, but that’s not the only change. All together, they make for a fine tactical light, and with the addition of Daly Mode, you can use it as a daily driver, too. Like many of Nitecore’s lights, the P23i uses their proprietary battery system, which is a major downfall for some, so if you’re looking for a light, you’ll want to keep that in mind, though thankfully, it does come with a battery and USB-C charging, so you don’t have to invest more in their i-Series batteries and chargers. Unless you want to use the light heavily, since it does have over a 4 hour charge time. The P23i Flashlight features a 3-in-1 tail cap which is u-shaped and is compatible with any lanyard making it capable of resisting any accidental activation. The strike Denzel is made using hard silicon nitride ceramics, making it ideal for self-protection and breaking glass in an emergency. The flashlight is powered with an NL2150HPi 21700i Li-ion battery which can accommodate a 5,000mAh scope and run continuously for 45 hours while providing 15A on the ultra-low level. USB-C rechargeable and two-user modes Designed for tactical applications, the P23i has some of the same great features as the other i series such as a crenelated strike bezel that has strengthened tips with hard silicon nitride ceramics to enable excellent glass breaking performance and the upgraded 2nd generation Strobe Ready™ dual button interface. Additionally it has U shaped tail design which not only helps prevent accidental activation, but also allows for lanyard easy attachment and tail stand capability. At various times during usage, the little blue indicator on the head of the P23i will indicate the battery (or charging) level. The indicator works as follows: They also advertise that it’s compatible with a number of weapon mounts and other separate accessories, but those are not covered here.To change between the modes first ensure the tail cap is tight and the light is off, then hold down the Strobe Ready™ button while simultaneously unscrewing the tail switch. The white LED indicates the selected mode by flashing once for daily mode, or twice for tactical mode and the mode button can be released and the tail cap can then be tightened. The P23i is compatible with a wide range of tactical accessories such as signal lights, tactical holsters, helmet mounts, traffic wands, diffusers, and gun mounts from Nitecore. The signal lights can be attached to the flashlight to provide additional visual signaling in emergencies. The stainless steel bezel in the flashlight can withstand heavy use and protect the flashlight from impact damage.

Remember that this typically happens with extremely cold temperatures (winter) and scorching and humid environments (summer). The Nitecore P23i is a high performance rechargeable torch with a maximum output of 3000 lumens from a Luminus SFT-70 LED for improved performance and distance, with a maximum beam range of 470 metres. In addition to the tactical mode which offers four brightness levels and strobe mode, daily mode can be used which provides the full five brightness levels ranging from 50 to 3000 lumens, plus strobe.

The P23i also has a power indicator that blinks in blue during the charging process to show the battery voltage (±0.1V). This acts as a handy charging status indicator too. The lighting modes are AMAZINGLY bright and long throws, and you can visibly see the difference in the brightness gap; Luminus SFT 70 LED magic. Made of aluminum, bright, and waterproof, can take some drops and can blind someone, and many will call that tactical. Since its establishment in 2007, Nitecore has been recognized for its durable, reliable, and high-performing products. Its flashlights are highly regarded for their bright and long-lasting beams, making them ideal for outdoor activities. From my experience with other P series flashlights, I know these things are made to last. The P23i worked perfectly fine under the shower and even underwater — what else can you ask for?
