For over 10 years now, Snap Studios has welcomed a host of heavyweight artists and musicians through its doors, from the likes of Liam Gallagher, FKA Twigs, Clean Bandit and Coldplay among others. Studio manager and resident engineer Marco Pasquariello has been integral to the studio's success story from the very beginning, having himself constructed a noteworthy body of work featuring Club Kuru, Paloma Faith, Craig David and Bill Fay to name just a few. Marco's diligent nature coupled with an easy-going disposition and impressive knowledge of the craft (and gear) has provided Snap with a solid foundation upon which it's built an enviable reputation as one of the top recording facilities in London. No mean feat. Personal information that we process for any purpose or purposes shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose or those purposes. An LED light is included inside, and operated by a single switch. This also includes a mount for your tablet or phone, along with a duffel bag for easy transport. Inspiration can strike 24/7. Snap Studio has you covered! With 5.5sqft (0.51m²) of floor space, this portable home recording studio easily fits one person and a mic stand. It breaks down in minutes to fit into the Snap Studio duffel bag (included), making it the perfect travel companion for singers, producers and voice over artists on any budget. Recycling? I’ve been doing this with a passion for decades. I never imagined it would grown into a multinational business, though.

I’ve worked with UAD for a long time too, I love how they operate and think they sound fantastic. I’m a big fan of all the Kush Audio plugins, plus I love the BX Townhouse bus compressor. My mix bus will often feature a Novatron, and Townhouse.Do you have any tips for managing (and maintaining) the balance between the creative 'vibe' and the more analytical process of mixing/engineering? Whilst it’s nothing overly elaborate, my setup contains a few choice pieces of gear that I know very well. I have built a comfortable space with a Primacoustic acoustic kit, and bought some decent solid speaker stands. It goes without saying but it’s really important to focus on getting your monitoring right before you even consider anything else. That doesn’t mean it has to be perfect, but making the mixing environment as flat as practically possible within budget and space is essential. Another benefit we’ve experienced with these is keeping your roommates, family and neighbors from being disturbed by noise. Sometimes you need to get loud for the right feeling to come through on the final mix, and with some of the more encapsulating vocal isolation booths, you’ll be able to sing and scream at top volume, while the people next door will barely be bothered. This goes both ways as well, since the inner layer helps to dampen any sounds coming from other parts of the house, like if someone’s watching TV, running air conditioners or just from the natural hum happening in any room. Running a studio involves a lot more than just the recording. There’s maintenance, upgrades, and general upkeep to consider too. Snap was never intended to be a money making venture at all, but money always has to be considered, of course.

I think a lot of the newer producers in that time came to realise that there are some things which can only be done right with good spaces, and the right equipment/environment/skilled engineers to capture those sounds. I’ve worked with the old Lynx Aurora’s for years and made a few records with them and always thought they were decent quality, but when I tried out the Aurora (n) I was absolutely blown away. The stereo image, depth and speed grabbed me instantly. We may disclose your personal information to any of our employees, officers, insurers, professional advisers, agents, suppliers, or subcontractors as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this policy. There’s certainly been a revival for more traditional recording over the past few years, and we fit in perfectly for that. What are your hopes and plans for the studio in the future? Record Crisp Vocals Anywhere — This portable sound booth gives you the luxury of having pristine speech-recording conditions at any time and place. The lightweight frame and diamond-stitched duffel bag makes for easy transportation and heavy-duty protection on the road.

The whole studio is powered by a sophisticated balanced mains supply which provides an ultra-low noise floor for all the gear. But gear aside, the main thing about Snap for us and many of our clients is the environment and vibe. We use ATC SCM25 monitors, alongside NS10’s and Eastlake JM3T’s which are all fed by a Grace Designs monitor controller, which is incredibly transparent and also has excellent headphone amps.I’ve been using them on my mix rig at home for about 5 years or so now. I absolutely love them. I wanted a small pair of speakers which I could use as a main near-field pair, and I demo'd a few sets of monitors within my budget but the Neumann’s were clear winners for me. I’d already heard them in Snap when a few producers had brought them in for referencing so I knew what to expect, but when I put them in my room they just sounded right. I love the mid-range on them. It’s really forward and the low mids sound full and rounded. I always think the mids are like a posh NS10, but with extra smoothness. They’re an exciting speaker to listen to, even at lower volumes. They work great for most types of music, and I would say I probably spend 80% of my time working on them. Do you find they each offer something the other doesn't? Our mic collection has all the usual suspects and more, but some of the more desirable ones worth mentioning would be our vintage Neumann/Telefunken U47/U67/U87s, KM56s, AKG C12, Sony C800G, Coles 4038s, RCA 44BXs, and lesser known mics like our pair of BBC Marconi AXBTs, which sound phenomenal. We reviewed CAD’s A77 mic here, but even with an excellent mic and talented vocalist, capturing the best possible sound quality depends heavily on what’s around you. If you don’t have a designated vocal-booth type setup at home, or want the option of recording wherever inspiration strikes, the Acousti-Shield AS34 is a practical and portable solution at under six pounds. This is constructed from high quality perforated metal, instantly cutting down on echoes and unwanted room reverb thanks to the 35mm high density micro cell acoustic foam. Attach this to just about any mic stand and you’re good to start recording crisp, clear vocals ready to be mixed in your DAW of choice.
