I'm giving this one three stars total. You can see that it's actually more of a 2.5, but I would definitely give the combo book a three instead of a 2 so there you have it. Review of each book listed. While Morganville, Texas, is often a troubled town, Claire Danvers and her friends are looking forward to coming home. But the Morganville they return to isn’t the one they know; it’s become a different place—a deadly one… So Claire, decided to find a new place, rules are rules, students who are below 18 or 20 are not allowed to find a new apartment or room outside campus. But Claire can't take it anymore, so she entered this weird house called Glass' House and met Eve, Shane and Michael. Eve, is a gothic girl who works in a bar and had this mysterious co-worker, Oliver. Shane, an experiment vampire who had a crush on Claire. While Michale, the owner of the house and a ghost, he usually the one who protects the place and he works as the Protector. The book features interesting character development for some vampires, particularly Amelie and Oliver, and some cheesy but adorable romantic scenes between Claire and Shane. This book also provides recaps at the beginning to catch up on previous books, making it easier for readers to understand the story. 10. Bite Club

The Morganville Vampires is a series of young adult urban fantasy/ vampire novels written by Rachel Caine. The novels feature Claire Danvers, a student at Texas Prairie University, and her housemates in the vampire-controlled city of Morganville, Texas. [1] While the mayor of Morganville is human, the population co-exist with a group of vampires. [2] Morganville is also home to an unusually large number of second-hand thrift stores. [3] I was about to die towards the end when Shane was about to get burned alive. I about cried myself to death. I really love Shane, I just hope he doesn't piss me off in the books to come in this series. So while I didn't love the book, it was fun and cute, and I'm probably going to continue the series just to see where things go. Rating - Glass Houses by Rachel Caine, 2 Sweets and wishing those vampires with prosperous days of garlic and chili. (Not bad for those people who really likes to try books that are far from there normal reading list. I recommend this to people who likes to read urban fanstasy, swear you wont regret it. Grabbed from Joyzi of Goodreads - Filipinos) The book has a slightly juvenile tone, which is ironic since the main character--a brainiac who is sixteen years old and in college--spends much of the book insisting that she's not a little kid. I feel like a lot of the events weren't really thought out and were there to move the story along without really considering the repercussions. It's kind of like how, in Harry Potter, Harry always managed to get away scot-free--and sometimes even with a congratulatory pat on the head--in spite of all the times he ignored rules or authority to save the world/his friends/stuff. Except that this book doesn't even go that far. Eventually, I kind of just gave up all hope for at least some bit of realism. In Rachel Caine's town of Morganville, "there's always a surprise just around every dark corner" - and it usually involves the undead. Now these secrets come to light in the first two books of the Morganville Vampires series, together in one volume. Her roommates take her in after she promises not to cause any trouble for them. They warn her not to leave the house, but she has to go to… you know, to class and all, so she doesn’t take their warning to heart. Once in campus, the mean girls grab her again, and so Claire calls her roommates to come to her rescue (HUH?) Alas, because her parents are criminally stupid (and apparently enjoy setting fire to money) they sent her to Texas Prairie University, after allowing her to apply to MIT, Yale, Harvard, (and a slew of other high power schools) and getting her acceptance letters to said schools. Apparently they want to keep their sixteen-year-old baby close to home, but living in the dorm of a notorious party school.

Um, yeah. Way to go, protective parents; you've put your daughter in StupidSchool and, moreover, the rattiest part of it. So, how'd that one work out? Claire and her friends face the dangerous and complex politics of the vampire world. Also, they find themselves facing new enemies and unexpected alliances. The world-building is impressive, with the author expanding on the vampire world’s mythology and Morganville’s history. Rachel does a great job keeping the reader on edge and anticipating what will happen next. 5. Lord of Misrule I actually had no idea what book number I was on since I'm reading these in volumes, two at a time. So, I was a little surprised to find myself already on book 7, and I was even more surprised with Rachel Caine. By this time I didn't think anything worse than Bishop could happen to the gang. Well, that's where people need to think again.

Kim. I don't like Kim. Kim can go jump off a bridge, or better yet, feed her to Myrnin. Gah! She threatened the dynamic of the Glass House and I was not liking that at all. Also wasn't feeling Ada's attitude problem. Now a fraternity is tossing its yearly Dead Girls’ Dance and the surprise here is Claire and her similarly outcast closest friend named Eve, happen to be invited. Once they discover why, all nightmare will probably bust unfastened. Since this time both living and the dead are arriving out and everyone’s starving for blood. He laughed, low in his throat. “Oh, yeah. That, I know. But I don’t want to see you get hurt again.”

The small College town of Morganville is not what it seems. It has very, very dark secrets. Morganville is not safe after dark, unless you have protection, even that can be revoked. Magnus is the master draug that has been hunting the vampires forever. In Last Breath, he kills Claire and catches most of the vampires, like Michael, Oliver, and Amelie's blood sister Naomi (who at the end, gets freed). He also bites Amelie, causing more chaos. Claire ends up staying with these "cool" "alternative" kids in a place called The Glass House, which is amusing for two reasons: 1) The Glass House (2001) is the name of a so-bad-it's-good horror thriller and 2) it is incredibly dated with what passes for cool. Not only is the "it's so lame to be smart" thing outdated, but Claire's new reject friends are a Goth, a musician, and a punk-ish tough guy. It's so early 2000s that it almost physically hurts, you guys. Her new friends tell her about how the town is run (by vampires) and this is arguably the most interesting aspect of the story, because I thought Caine did vampire politics in a relatively interesting way. The vampires own the city, and the cops. Important humans have Protection in the form of bracelets (basically: do not bite) and can carry over to family members, but like health insurance, expire when the wearer turns 18 (yet another reason this story is dated - thanks, Obamacare!). The best way to avoid being bitten is to stay off their radar, play by the rules, be home before curfew, and oh, yeah, don't invite them in.Os personagens também me agradaram muito. Could it be any harder, do The Calling, no random!). In "Fade Out"Claire and her friends finally put away Bishop for good. This didn't mean problems were over, because she start being chased by the vampire machine that was controlling the whole city. The Machine (Ada) was jealous on her and the friendship Claire had with the most craziest vampire Myrnin. Ada (the program )was trying to trap Claire through the portals in a room full with vampires, until last time opened her own portal and garbed Claire to kill her. After few tries Ada's program was restarted by Claire and when she realized how much pain she has causing, Ada killed herself (computer delete program for good). Not that this was not enough problems for them one of Eve's new friend start transforming Morganville into a Reality show, so they scope is to stop any video coming out of the city. The town of Morganville is preparing for the annual “Feast of Fools,” a celebration where humans and vampires can let loose and have fun. However, tensions rise when a group of human radicals threatens to disrupt the festivities and reveal the town’s secrets to the outside world. I can see there is going to be a romance somewhere along the line, but it's not in the book as much as some book do. When it's in your face all the time. This book has the romance, but it is off to the side, keeping up with the storyline alongside. It's more about the problem rather then the romance, which don't get me wrong, i love a good romance book as much as the next person, it's just not made a big deal of And when I say "their mansion," I mean by the trio that lives there. Shane, Eve, and Michael. And I love Shane. The end. He's just...urgh. I love him. xD Eve is an awesome character. She has to be the second character that I've "met" that's a pure Goth, if you will. LOL. I loved her, she was funny. <3 Also, can I say that I will NEVER remotely like Monica...EVER...AT ALL? I don't give a shit if she sprouts wings and turns into an angel and saves everybody at the end of the series. I will forever hate that bitch. :) I was on Eve's side when she said, " Maybe she does deserve a good blowtorching." And Claire's like, " No. Nobody deserves that." And I'm sitting here like:

For Claire Danvers, high school was hell, but college may be murder. It was bad enough that she got on the wrong side of Monica, the meanest of the school's mean girls, but now she has got three new roommates, who all have secrets of their own. And the biggest secret of all is not really a secret, except from Claire: Morganville is run by vampires, and they are hungry for fresh blood. Shane has seen some very dark days of his own and only knows too well the dangers, lurking. Claire is oblivious but is a fast learner. She has to be.

Rachel Caine

I ended up liking this a lot more than I thought I would. It's a fun read that I would recommend to the younger spectrum of teens. I had issues with a few of the concepts/plot points. One of which being that if Claire was such a genius, why wasn't she smarter with her actions? I feel like there was something missing there... The final book, Daylighters, continues with a new boss in town taking out vampires, and it’s up to Claire, Shane, and Eve to stop him. The author praises the book for delivering awesome, fast-paced action and a twisty plot. She also reflects on the character’s growth throughout the series, particularly Claire’s development into a strong, independent friend and ally. She is sad to say goodbye to Morganville but is happy with how it ends, with hope and happiness. I met her last December, face-to-face, and I'm glad she include one of her vampire books. No doubt I grab it and hide it, I know nobody is interested in reading the book except me, the girl and the other girl. Yes, both girls, I don't know why they liked to read this kind of books.
