Description

Type-C trousers offer all round protection from cutting and these are the ones you want to use if you are going to be cutting up at heights or at strange angles due to the higher risk of the chainsaw slipping. Full trousers, dungarees or chaps? Finding a trustworthy brand can be a big undertaking, and when you are faced with lots of recommended companies, the search can feel daunting. Some manufactures cater to different areas of the workforce, and not all brands offer all the tools in every field. First, you need to ask yourself if the brand you have chosen can provide you with the tools you need now, and the ones you will need in the future. Of course, you could buy from multiple brands, but that will require more research that takes up valuable time.

Husqvarna are a trusted name in this industry and for good reason. They have years of expertise when it comes to making protective clothing for forestry and can be relied upon to always deliver outstanding quality. These chainsaw trousers are no different, with a level of workmanship that is hard to beat. All together there are 5 layers to these trousers which is more than you usually see with this kind of lower cost product. These extra layers means that the material can be lighter while still offering good protection, and this adds to how comfortable they are to wear. The elasticated waist is helpful for keeping sawdust out of your underwear and so it tends to get trapped behind the bib instead. This is much more preferable for me as I could just slip the braces off my shoulder and empty it out in seconds. Screwfix has an excellent reputation and is arguably the best brand for trade tools in the UK. This is down to them supplying only top-quality tools at extremely reasonable prices. It’s obvious that the team at Screwfix are passionate about what they do – having friendly and helpful staff that range from online assistants to instore staff. If you are unsure or need any advice on your DIY or trade job, they are more than happy to answer your questions. So, for things like chopping firewood they are perfectly fine, but if you plan to get up on a ladder to take out some overhanging branches, you would be better off with something that offers more all-round protection due to the increased risk of injury. Chainsaws are very effective at doing what they are intended to do, but our common problem is that they are quite dangerous. Every year, hundreds of people who work with chainsaws are injured by them and often the wounds are on the legs and caused by the operator dropping the chainsaw or slicing through the target too far and fast and that’s where chainsaw trousers come in. One of the advantages of chainsaw chaps is that they are easy to slip on over your jeans and then you just use the three straps (one at the waist and two on the legs) to secure them in place. This makes them a good choice if you think you are going to be in and out of the house a lot as you can just slip them off when you enter and not risk getting dirt and oil everywhere, which would no doubt make the wife very happy….not. Product 2: Smooth leather conforms to user’s hands for a natural fit and more dexterity while working Lightweight and Comfortable: Chainsaw trousers need to be comfortable for users who may spend extended periods working with heavy equipment. Lightweight materials can reduce fatigue during long hours of use.

Having tools with excellent durability is extremely important. Not only will it mean you will not have to spend out on replacement tools when they break prematurely, but because tougher tools will do a better job. Sometimes cheaper ones can appear to work great until wear and damage suddenly make them unusable, and you are left unable to complete your task. This will lead to an extended work period as you will have to go out and buy a replacement. If you use that tool as part of your profession, it could mean the difference between hitting your deadline or not. No matter what kind of job you have or how you’re using the equipment, make sure your tools can stand up to the task in the first place. There is a long list of brands that excel in specific tools, but don’t do so well with others. One company that is fantastic across the board is Screwfix. Saying that, even after adjusting the waist on my pair, I still felt that the crotch hung down a little bit too far for my liking. This is the problem with universal, one size fits all style of chainsaw trousers- there are just too many body sizes and shapes out there so you are going to get some discomfort for some people, somewhere along the line. When working at heights, never leave tools lying out in the areas where they could present a hazard to the people below.

These are very comfortable chainsaw trousers. The two way stretch polyester material, along with the light weight, makes it nice and easy to move around in them. I was wearing them for a whole day while testing and I appreciated the comfort and manoeuvrability they afford. Make sure you maintain your tools by performing regular maintenance tasks like grinding or sharpening. Remember to follow the manufacturer’s instructions while you’re doing this. Before we get into the review of the Oregon 295397 Type C chainsaw trousers there are two crucial stats on these. Firstly as I just alluded to, these are type C and they are class 1 so you can rely on them up to 20 m/s chainsaw protection. They are without question, the top type c chainsaw trousers available in the UK unless you want to spend an arm and a leg on professional arborist trousers! As a general guide though sizes 48-52 are about medium 54-56 are large, and 58 to 60+ are extra-large. If you have a 35 inch waist like me you should go for a size 58 if you want to wear these over some jeans.

If you’re looking for something a bit different then Oregon 2-Handed Protection Chainsaw Gloves Large is a great suggestion. Or even Oregon Forestry Helmet with Ear Defenders & Visor

One common problem with chainsaw trousers is that the inside bottoms can often get worn out by rubbing against boots and this can compromise their effectiveness. The makers of these have considered this and have reinforced the trousers in that particular area, so two thumbs up to Husqvarna there. Comprised of the same six layer material that their equally excellent Yukon chainsaw trousers are made of, they offer a very good level of protection while still being flexible and easy to move around in. Many bargain footwear suppliers offer work boots for a fantastic price. But these are often not steel toe capped, do not have anti-fatigue soles and won’t protect your feet against liquids or extreme heat. In fact, some boots that look the part may as well be a pair of sandals if a hammer or power tool was to drop on your foot. Please note that at 14.08 pm on 26 June 2023, Arvindar Singh and Ben Jones of FRP Advisory Trading Limited were appointed as Joint Administrators of F R Jones and Son Limited. The outer material is made of 100% polyester and is resistant to the usual culprits such as water, oil, and abrasion. This material is also nicely breathable.Do not use electric tools in wet conditions unless they are approved for that use. If you must work in wet conditions, always ensure you have good balance and are unlikely to slip.
